Outside, you have a pretty sitting out area in the garden of the owners' old thatched farmhouse, as well as use of an orchard where you can enjoy sunny alfresco meals at the picnic table. Pittards Oiltac enhances grip in all conditions, wet or dry, and is ideal for climbing gloves or for highly dextrous tasks. Water resistance is maintained by special WR100X tanning which reduces water uptake. As no other party has expressed an interest in acquiring the business, the company has now ceased to trade with immediate effect. Sadly, the majority of the company’s UK employees have been made redundant.

It is ideally located to explore Somerset and Dorset. Vivienne and Huw were superb hosts. Many thanks for the wine/biscuits and milk in the fridge.We were at the English tannery Pittards. The holiday cottage was stylishly decorated and furnished with good quality items. Full set of luxury toiletries provided. Founded in 1826, Pittards is a manufacturer of premium leather products and employs 135 staff in the UK and 900 in Ethiopia. The historic firm had been struggling in recent months amid the wider economic downturn, and it appointed administrators earlier this week, with all staff at its Sherborne Road factory sent home at midday on Monday (September 4). Yeovil's last remaining glove firm, Pittards, has hit financial struggles and could be sold or even close entirely. Founded in 1826, Pittards is a key part of the long history of leather manufacturing and glove-making in Yeovil and the wider area. The British climate is not warm enough to grow cotton, and the majority of British wool is destined for the carpet trade, being too coarse for consumer tastes. “In food there is a field-to-table supply chain that consumers can understand. I mentioned I was keen on walking so they provided me with some local guide books that I made use of. The surrounding areas are very quiet & enjoyed the local walks, even seeing some deer on one of the days. I would thoroughly recommend this cottage & hope I have the opportunity of a return stay.
