About this deal

This aside, for this price, I can say without a doubt that this keyboard is a STEAL. A literal blessing for those looking to enter the mechanical keyboard hobbyist space without spending a fortune to dip your toes. White gasket made of metal but I am not sure if it is aluminium or brass.

PS: There is enough space for you to do all the mods you want. I went ahead with taping the PCB and placing foam in the case. (Please do this at your own risk. This review is not modding advice from my end) Unfortunately, my experience with it was mixed. Key assignments looked to be saved to the keyboard, working even I connected to another device via Bluetooth. But there's no way to switch between the profiles via the keyboard itself; it only seems to store the last profile selected on the software. And lighting control is even more spotty. Sometimes a setting would take when I switched devices, while other times it would stay on the default options. As for its wireless capability, the RK84 offers a more reliable and lag-free solution compared to the more budget-priced RK keyboards. It will inevitably not have the same versatility as Bluetooth, meaning its use case is strictly for desktop setups. Overall, the RK84 is perfect for those who want a large keyboard with F-keys and want to have a more reliable wireless connection for general use and for gaming. Royal Kludge Sink87 Royal Kludge Sink87 Hot-swap PCB allows you to replace 3 pins/5 pins switches freely without soldering issues. Enjoy the fun of making your own unique keyboard. As for the dongle range issue…I didn’t find much problem as I used the dongle at the front of my case instead. But yes there is dongle issue definitely. Bluetooth works well as an alternative. The stabilizers are lubed very well which gives them a smooth functionality. There is a small ratlle though that I feel can be fixed by clipping and holee mods later on. Expand your options using the available software to design your own new modes and effects. Macros with different keybindings or shortcuts for more efficient work and gaming.

In addition, the RK71 has a unique 70% form factor that isn’t usually seen on mechanical keyboards. It is very similar to a 65% layout. However, there are even more keys added to the right side of the keyboard. The RK71 is perfect for those who want a more visually striking keyboard and want additional programmable keys without sacrificing the compact size of the keyboard. Royal Kludge RK84 Royal Kludge RK84 The model I reviewed had cloned RK-branded Red switches that mirror the standard Cherry MX Reds, but Royal Kludge also offers Blue and Brown switches as an option. However, the RK84 is built for customization. It comes with a keycap puller and switch puller, in addition to four additional switches. The keycaps are ABS doubleshot keycaps with the familiar cross pattern connector on the bottom. The switches are plate-mounted, 3-pin models, but the board looks to have holes allowing the use of PCB-mounted switches. On paper, the Royal Kludge RK84 is a winner. A simple design is paired with three connection choices, a larger battery, USB passthrough, and software that allows for further configuration. For customizers, it's a win with hot-swappable switches and standard keycaps, with a price tag that's lower than most of the competition. But the 2.4-GHz connection barely works, USB passthrough only works in wired mode, and the software is a miss. The only FLAW I can see is 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐅𝐓𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐄! 𝐈𝐓𝐒 𝐒𝐎 𝐁𝐀𝐃! Tbh you wont need it much other than making macros also sometimes when you fast type it doesn’t register keys and you have to type the same thing again…but that might be my unit fault as I have not heard the same from anyone else.Since then, the company has refined the original RK61 formula and expanded it into several other form factors. The company now currently has a mechanical keyboard offering for nearly every size. And while Royal Kludge isn’t deviating too much from their budget-oriented formula, their strategy has proven to be effective since they are still one of the go-to brands for budget-priced mechanical keyboards. Royal Kludge Keyboard Lineup Royal Kludge RK61 Royal Kludge RK61 The Royal Kludge RK925 is arguably the company’s most innovative product. It features a unique foldable design as well as low-profile mechanical keys. It is a keyboard that is designed to be paired with mobile devices and is meant to be carried around.
