There are 50 different memory locations on the Zoom G1 FOUR which you can use to store your own patches. The pedal also has an auto save function for automatically capturing all of your patch parameters. With so many effects, great features and sound shaping options, the Zoom G1 Four is an incredible sonic experience for both you and your audience. Build quality: Except for the bottom of the unit, which is made of metal, the Zoom G1 Four is made entirely of plastic. However, the plastic seems sturdy and unlikely to break. Judging by how it looks and feels to the touch, I would say that it is probably polycarbonate, which is one of the most durable thermoplastics. Surprisingly, the footswitches do not feel flimsy at all and are not as easy to press as I had expected, which gives off an impression of quality. To sum up, considering the low price of the unit, it is built very well.

The target market for the G1on, as was the case with all of its previous G1 pedals, is the guitar gear newbie taking their first steps into gear land. However, this does a disservice to the power of this product and I think every guitarist has room in their life for this pedal, even if it’s just for the convenience of having all of the features in one box. When the effects are bypassed the volume knob becomes a pitch adjustment control for the tuner. However the signal is still affected by the volume setting. You just can't change the volume.The Zoom G1 FOUR is a guitar multi-effects pedal that features over 70 effects and amp models, a looper and even a drum machine. Endless Sounds, Limitless Potential There are 3 different ways the unit can be powered: with a micro USB charger, with a standard 9V PSU, or with 4 x AA batteries. Comparative product: I don’t think there are any products that do drums, loopers and have different tone presets all in one box! I am very impressed with this unit. I used to have the TC Electronics Nova System, which is a great unit. The problem I had with it was the size and weight. I still wanted something with similar functionality but needed to downsize to something that could fit on my board. This G1 Four is it.

There are additional internal effects that can be loaded onto the unit via the USB port. To this you need to connect the G1X to a PC and run the software that is provided. It would be nicer if all the effects could be loaded on to the device at the same time, as this would remove the need for a PC. I rarely connect the pedal to a PC and hence I'm probably missing out on some useful effects.Making it extremely versatile and extra portable, the Zoom G1 Four guitar effects pedal can be powered three different ways. When students ask for a good starting guitar pedal, lets explore one that might be a good one to explore. Another improvement over such units as the Multi-Stomp series by Zoom is that this unit also provides a resource monitor in the software, which shows how much memory a patch uses, unlike the MS70-CDR or G1on, where the user has no indication that a patch is using too much memory until he or she is alerted that memory resources have been exceeded.
