I really loved the enchanting world that Rebecca Ross painted for us throughout these two books. There is magic and romance. Family bonds that are put to the test and deep-rooted ideas from rival clans that are challenged. The cast of characters are all layered and engaging and have you emotionally invested from the beginning. There were a few storylines that felt underdeveloped as well as the conclusion, as a reader I wished I had more closure with some plot lines and some more answers, but I still really enjoyed this series overall. The left one peeled away to reveal a pale leg and a huge foot that the boy was still growing into. Nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps Sidra was mistaken. With lush worldbuilding and lyrical prose, A River Enchanted feels like the echo of a folktale from a world right next to our own.” — Hannah Whitten, New York Times bestselling author of For the Wolf this was a conclusion i didnt know i wanted. the first book was an okay read and didnt leave much hope for this one, but i found this to be a better installment overall. i was more invested in the characters. i feel like i got to know them more here after all the plot twists about them in the first book. the plot was more engaging even though it did feel slow at times. i also think the relationships (friendship, family, romance) felt more tender & emotional.
if you did not like the first book you probably wouldn’t like this one but i can admit it was a lot better!! I lost almost all of my interest in this series while about 25% through A Fire Endless, for no apparent reason at all. I'm having a hard time thinking of anything to say about it because my apathy is speaking very loudly right now. I really liked the first book (a Scottish inspired fantasy with romantic elements), even if it wasn't a favorite or anything, but by the time I got to this one I just didn't care anymore! I honestly could have DNFed and never thought about it again. This does not seem to be the average reaction! Especially for people who liked the first book, as I did. I can't explain it! This was way better than river enchanted in my opinion. The characters development and struggles and the mystery, the plot twist everything was very good and it was the perfect conclusion to the story that started in river enchanted 🫶🏻 i can’t recommend this series enough 😭 i think everyone one should experience this lyrical and beautiful writing and the magical story. Not very much of a useful review, in terms of y'all being like okay that is a helpful piece of information! More useful probably is that the consensus on this book is that it is a good ending to the duology. Many people whose opinions I trust on Goodreads have said it was bettera than A River Enchanted! I fell in love this with this enchanting world and the amazing characters even more in this book. The pacing was perfect and the plot engaged me the entire book. There were several plot twists that I didn't expect that had me at the edge of my seat. I loved learning more about this unique world inspired by Scottish folklore. I enjoyed learning more about the elemental faeries (earth, wind, fire and water) and their past. The stories of the past flowed seamlessly through the lyrical and descriptive writing. The fall vibes in this book was immaculate and made me want to snuggle up in a cozy blanket. The ending was so beautiful and heartbreaking. I was so happy that the characters had the ending that they deserved. I honestly cried both happy and sad tears. This book has my whole heart. In the west, Adaira struggles to find her place. I think i just found my new favorite,comfort book 🫶🏻 this book deserves all the love and the stars ✨ it’s so tender and gentle it’s so gorgeous and beautiful i could cry for how beautiful the book really is. This series took me to another magical, wonderful world. It provided me with a place to escape my responsibility and my reality and it was the best thing ever. I was so lost and found in this book. The plot and the characters and the feelings this book made me feel are unforgettable.💖

She could feel it coating her teeth. “I’ll wait here with him.” She could call him whatever she felt like, because he was with her and that was all that mattered to him. He was breathing the same air as her, standing in the same moment with her. However, I would say that the world building was a little muddy in places as we skim over the details of the various elements and magic and how exactly music is utilised. The plot is also a little predictable in places, with situations and plot points that are easily resolved by a handy word from a friendly sprite or, to put it more precisely, a memory. However, that isn't to day I wasn't intrigued by the story and I found while I was reading this that I couldn't put it down, swept away in the lush settings and easy writing style. It was certainly an enjoyable time. I received an advance copy of this novel from the publisher, Harper Voyager, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. A sublime mix of romance, intrigue and myth, A RIVER ENCHANTED is a stunning addition to the canon of Celtic-inspired fantasy. With its lyrical prose and tight world building, this story is both modern and timeless, drawing from the traditions of genre greats like Steven Lawhead and marrying them to the sensibilities of modern works like Genevieve Gornichec's THE WITCH'S HEART and Tana French's IN THE WOODS'
This was an absolutely stunning conclusion to one of the most enchanting stories I've ever had the pleasure of consuming. Hamish’s entire lower leg was mottled purple and blue, similar to the appearance of a fresh bruise. His veins were prominent and shimmered with gold. The discoloration seemed to be creeping up his leg and was on the cusp of claiming his knee. He had obviously hidden the ailment from his friends beneath his boot, and he must have been concealing it for a while, since it had spread so far. Half of me and half of you,” Sidra insisted. “Until they become their own person.” I can’t I’m literally obsessed with them 😭🫶🏻 With their very land at risk, all will need to join together to confront Bane. Yet none can challenge the north wind without paying a terrible price, and the sacrifice required may be more than they can bear… This isn't to say that I think love stories are immature; truly, I love love and prefer my stories to have at least a little romantic tension in them. My concern is this: When there are other concurrent plotlines, especially ones written to have major implications for the story, I find following the romantic plot instead misguided.The tenuous balance of the Isle of Cadence is under threat from Bane, the spirit of the north wind. Torin and Sidra-My King and Queen! My love for them can't be measured but I confess that Sidra is my absolute favorite character throughout this series. This woman is a pillar of strength, grace and wisdom. She is PERFECT and I am devoted to her! This book really allows her to show how strong and capable she is, and I was loving all it. My poor Torin found himself in a precarious situation again and even though I loved how he ultimately handled his business; I have to admit I was not a fan of how they had my babies separated for most of the book. Especially since they couldn't communicate for some of book one and now again, they were shoved apart and I was quite grumpy about to be honest.
