About this deal

This cookie, set by YouTube, registers a unique ID to store data on what videos from YouTube the user has seen. Habitat destruction and the illegal pet trade are two of the main reasons why the wild population is in rapid decline. Rescue and rehabilitation centres help to care for sloth who have suffered due to the pet trade or the loss of their habitat.

Your sloth adoption will last for 12 months, and 10% of the profit will help raise money for our conservation partners. So you’ll feel pretty cool about giving this gift too. Can we adopt a sloth as a school or on behalf of a group? Two-toed sloths are slow moving, peaceful creatures and can be found in the forests of South America. We have two sloth enclosures at the Zoo and your experience may take place in either of these depending on which sloths are available on the day. They have grooved hair that allows algae to grow in it. This gives the sloth a natural forming camouflage in the forest. By adopting a sloth, you will be donating to the Sloth Conservation Foundation. Affectionately known as SloCo, this British-registered charity is dedicated to saving sloths in the wild, by implementing lasting solutions through research and conservation initiatives in countries such as Costa Rica, where the natural tree canopy habitat of the sloth is constantly under threat from development and deforestation. Sponsoring a sloth at Newquay Zoo will make a real contribution to the daily care of our sloths and wildlife conservation work across the world. Known for being slow movers (up to 1.6km per hour!) and taking their time, the Sloth has grown to be extremely popular with visitors to our wildlife park. As a nocturnal species the Sloth sleeps throughout the day and eats at night and can live for over 30 years! In fact, one of our very own resident sloths, Mr. Jingles, is 29 – that’s older than many of our park guests! Sid joined us from Sandwich Wildlife Park in March 2021 after it closed, and he is an older boy who likes to take things slow… even for a sloth. Whilst Noco joined us at the end of 2022. She was born in spring 2021 at Bristol Zoo and moved to WWP after they also closed. We have been thrilled to give these loveable characters a home here with us and to see how adored they are by our visitors. The more you know…

These enclosures can be very warm and humid so we advise to wear layers of clothing that can be removed.
