Following the Red Wedding, the Brotherhood became a force for resistance against the Lannisters and their allies in the North and the Riverlands. They proved to be particularly problematic for House Frey, rallying the commoners in revolt and raiding Walder Frey's camps and supply trains. The Freys found themselves stretched thin with the Brotherhood's ongoing harassment, and the aging Walder was reluctantly forced to request support from his Lannister masters. The "Brotherhood Without Banners" (or BWB) is also the name of George R.R. Martin's fanbase, particularly the part of which gathers around the Westeros.org forums. His fifth A Song of Ice and Fire novel, A Dance with Dragons, is dedicated to the Brotherhood Without Banners.
