About this deal

The Intex range includes some of the most popular recreational inflatable kayaks on the market. Their lightweight, sporty kayaks are designed with portability and budget in mind. Intex kayaks might be the perfect first kayak for family adventures, but they also have models that are perfect for exploration or angling. As the Excursion Pro is designed to be an all-around recreational kayak, it has a wealth of features to enhance your time on the water. With a removable Go-Pro or phone mount at the front of the kayak, you can record and photograph your journey with ease. The rest of your essentials can be kept safe and dry in the included waterproof bag, which stows neatly under the front spray skirt. With the improved design and construction material, the Excursion Pro is the highest-quality kayak ever from Intex. Intex Excursion Pro vs Sea Eagle 370/330 The Intex Excursion Pro weighs 39 lbs, making it easy to transport in and out of the water. It is 5 lbs heavier than the Sea Eagle 370, a comparable kayak in the category.

Like its smaller sister ship, the Intex Challenger K2 is a general purpose inflatable kayak for beginners at a bargain price. It’s best for recreational paddlers who are looking to have fun on the water, solo or tandem, for an hour or two at a time. If you’re looking to develop your skills or spend more time in the kayak, look at a higher performance (pricier) inflatable kayak to meet your needs. In the scope of supply an additional seat cushion is included, which can be placed under one of the seats. The seat cushion increases the sitting position and is intended for children or very small persons, so that it’s easier to put the paddle blade into the water. Review of the Intex Excursion Pro on the water And the great part is that the monster-sized carry bag will fit everything, and then some. Whenever in a hurry, you’ll enjoy how the boat fits in nicely, even when not folded neatly. It also seems like it is of good quality, so hopefully, it won’t tear for a few years. Due to the variable placement of the seats, you can paddle it solo as well. In the following photo you can see that the effective length of the boat on the water, i.e. the waterline, is much shorter than the total length of the boat. The reason is that the weight is mainly concentrated in the middle of the boat. Nevertheless, the Excursion Pro can be paddled without problems with a deep water fin. The speed and the directional stability as a 1-person kayak are alright for short trips. You have some good room for storage, and plenty of leg room thanks to the adjustable seat positioning. The inflatable seat itself is unusually supportive and comfortable for an inflatable system. Inside the kayak, there’s plenty of legroom for kayakers of most sizes. There’s a screw cap covering the valve spring to keep the valves from accidentally opening while on the water, but that also makes opening and closing the valves for inflation and deflation a bit harder.

Just behind the seat, there are two removable rod holders, allowing the angling enthusiast to make the most of their inflatable kayak. Anglers will appreciate the extra inflatable seating pad that can be used to raise the seat, giving them a better casting height. This feature is also great for smaller kayakers who benefit from the extra reach. This tends to be more of an issue with inflatable kayaks anyway, and you will find them to be heavier and harder to carry then their hard shell counterparts. Price Inflating the Explorer K2 takes less than ten minutes. Intex has printed a scale on the sidewalls that shows when the kayak is fully inflated. Once the printed line measures 10 cm, the Explorer is fully inflated and ready to go. Three Air Chambers – Three air chambers support the weight of the passengers. If one of them fails, there are still two more intact air chambers. Thus, minimizing the risk of getting stranded in the middle of nowhere. The other two chambers will safely bring you to the shore. Also, I’m not too fond of the fact that the paddles break down into five pieces. I understand that it makes them more compact, but it also makes them more flimsy when assembled. Two or three-piece paddles are firmer and nicer to use. ComfortYou can't blow more air into the valves without the pump they provide, and it's a pain to carry that in the boat with you, so when you're out in it, if it needs more air, there's nothing you can do.

If you really want to maximise stability, make sure you go with a wider option since these have more surface area on the water which prevents side to side tipping. Kayaks with a wide beam (the width at the widest part of your kayak) are well regarded as some of the most stable available. I-beam Floor – Its inflatable I-beam floor makes the kayak very stable on the water. It enables the kayak to have the solidity that it needs. Although it’s rigid, the kayak still provides flexibility. You can reach a speed of between 2,5 and 3,1 mph when paddling comfortably. Compared to other kayaks, the straight-line stability is not really good, but still okay. Here you should not forget that the kayak with a length of 365 cm and a width of 103 cm is not designed for fast but rather for calm and stable paddling tours. As a 2-person kayak the performance on the water is noticeably better due to the larger waterline.

Should You Buy the Sea Eagle 370 Pro?

Some inflatables will be ready to go within as little as 3 minutes, whereas others can take up to 30 minutes depending on how it is being inflated. Even though most inflatable kayaks will take between 3 and 4 PSI in air pressure, they can vary greatly in the amount of time that they take to inflate and deflate. Material The Explorer K2 kayak is the least expensive two-person kayak from Intex. Available as a tandem model (that can also be paddled solo), the kayak kit comes with a pump and paddles, so in theory you can buy a personal flotation device (PFD) and safety kit (containing Coast Guard-approved equipment), walk out of the store and get on the water. You also get a footrest that can you can adjust in 3 positions. I am 6′ tall (185 cm), the furthest position is about right for me. Inflatable kayaks generally have the disadvantage compared to fixed hull kayaks that they have a worse directional stability. Therefore a fin can be attached to most inflatable kayaks to improve the directional stability. With our model we unfortunately had to find out that the fin holder is not attached straight. The sloppy mounting of the fin holder is annoying, because it will make the kayak even worse in terms of directional stability. The fin holder of our kayak is not attached straight.
