These air mattresses are almost identical in every way. The main difference is that the Klymit Static V2 is actually lighter than the regular Static V. While the Static V weighs 18.1 ounces, the Static V2 only weighs 16.33 ounces. The reason why this was made possible is the fact that the V2 has a lighter fabric on the top than the Static V. Nevertheless, the Static V2 is still ultra-durable. This pad is a great choice when you can maintain your gear well and don’t want to spend a fortune. Klymit Static V2 The Klymit Static V2 is one of the best-valued sleeping pads on the market. For one, it’s the most comfortable sleeping pad I’ve used, providing plenty of cushion and stability. While it is constructed of 30 Denier Polyester, it still manages to get holes rather easily. The NeoAir Xtherm ditches the mainstream rectangular shape for a contoured build. This makes it overall more weight-effective, without compromising comfort and it’s a seriously comfortable, seriously lightweight sleeping pad – as an all rounder, the Xtherm is hard to beat, but it ain’t cheap and there are some better value options out there. Winner: The Static V was made for this category. It has the required insulation to help you in cold weather and the design of the pad itself will help keep air trapped in the baffles and warm you up. The most noticeable difference between Klymit Static V and V2 is their weight. If you’re looking to have a more lightweight sleeping pad, get the Klymit V2. When all is said and done, you’re not buying this pad for winter camping, you are buying it because it’s a comfortable, lightweight summer sleeping pad. Its low R-value at 1.3 means this is not for high altitudes or mountaineers. That said, I used this pad at 8,500 feet on a 40-degree night without any insulation and just my sleeping bag for warmth. It was completely fine at this temperature. Its push valve makes deflation and inflation effortless.
