About this deal

I knew that my ‘gift' of beauty had helped to bring about the most painful moment of my life, simply because I was too naive at the time to understand the power it wielded. So now, I hid it away, which meant hiding myself.' Now here I was, no farther on than this time last year when I’d sat next to my sister in economy class, flying across the world to Thailand. Except this time Star wasn’t with me, and I wasn’t running to something, I was running away . . . You pressed the call bell,” she said in an exaggerated whisper, indicating the rest of the passengers, who were all asleep. After all, it was four in the morning, London time. When CeCe herself finally reaches the searing heat and dusty plains of the Red Centre of Australia, something deep within her responds to the energy of the area and the ancient culture of the Aboriginal people. As she comes closer to finding the truth of her ancestry, CeCe begins to believe that this untamed, vast continent could offer her what she never thought possible: a sense of belonging, and a home.

A hundred years earlier, Kitty McBride, daughter of an Edinburgh clergyman, is given the opportunity to travel to Australia as the companion of the wealthy Mrs McCrombie. In Adelaide, her fate becomes entwined with Mrs McCrombie's family, including the identical, yet very different, twin brothers: impetuous Drummond, and ambitious Andrew, the heir to a pearling fortune. CeCe and Star have always come as a pair. Star the quiet one great with literature and speaks very little, CeCe speaks for them both and virtually overwhelms Star and they even have their own form of sign language to communicate. As is her way, Lucinda ends one sister’s story by introducing the next, but this time she’s thrown us a real cliff-hanger. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad idea that I sat on this book for a few months after all! Less time to wait until November. If you haven’t thrown your cap into the ring with this series yet, I urge you to do so. It’s magnificent. And this latest instalment, The Pearl Sister, shines with luminous perfection. CeCe D’Aplièse has never felt she fitted in anywhere. Following the death of her father, the elusive billionaire Pa Salt – so-called by the six daughters he adopted from around the globe and named after the Seven Sisters star cluster – she finds herself at breaking point. Dropping out of art college, CeCe watches as Star, her beloved sister, distances herself to follow her new love, leaving her completely alone. There is a hidden plotline running throughout the Seven Sisters series. Did you spot any clues as to #WhoIsPaSalt? I also have some news. Apparently, this series is coming to TV!! I would love to watch it. You can read more information here:

Catherine Gonsholt Ighanian, Seven Sisters author has cancer - "Death does not scare me", (Norwegian), Verdens Gang, 26 May 2019It’s been ages since I went there last, but I hear it’s huge now—maybe a couple of thousand people. My favorite place is Railay Beach in Krabi. It’s very chilled, but I suppose it depends on what you want.” I want to like this series, because it is SUCH a good idea. The way it is working out though is just awful. Two stars because it was okay enough that I wanted to find out what happened to the characters in the end. Will probably take the next one on holiday next year. *sigh* When CeCe finally reaches the searing heat and dusty plains of the Red Centre of Australia, she begins the search for her past. As something deep within her responds to the energy of the area and the ancient culture of the Aboriginal people, her creativity reawakens once more. With help from those she meets on her journey, CeCe begins to believe that this wild, vast continent could offer her something she never thought possible: a sense of belonging, and a home…

The lonely wanderer who must find where she belongs – beginning in Scotland 100 years ago, CeCe’s story moves from the beaches of Thailand to the pearling towns and Red Centre of Australia. The London banker she meets in Thailand? What was the point of that? That she knows how to make a friend? After getting off the boat just past the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, I walked up the street beside it and remembered how I’d once treated Star to high tea in the famous Authors’ Lounge. We’d both felt out of place in our jeans and T-shirts, with everyone else dressed up to the nines. Star had spent hours in the library looking at the signed photographs of all the authors who had stayed at the hotel in the past. I wondered if she ever would write her novel, because she was so good at putting sentences together and describing things on paper. Not that it was any of my business anymore. She had a new family now; I’d seen a light in her eyes when I’d arrived home a few weeks ago and a man she called “Mouse” had been there in our apartment, gazing at her like an adoring puppy.
