Following an extensive search headed by 2023 partners the global music management and publishing company TaP Music, the BBC can confirm that singer-songwriter Mae Muller will be representing the United Kingdom at the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, set to be held in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine, in May 2023 with I Wrote A Song.

On 3 March 2023, Muller released a collaboration with Sigala, Caity Baser and Stefflon Don, titled "Feels This Good". [22] On 9 March 2023, she was announced as the UK's performer for the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool. Her entry, " I Wrote a Song", was released on the same day, accompanied by a music video. [23] [24] In the competition final on 13 May 2023, the song finished in 25th place out of 26 contestants with 24 points. [25]

Mae’s commitment and drive in representing the UK is undeniably clear and I am certain that she is going to be a brilliant ambassador with I Wrote A Song.” Speaking about the record Mae says, “I'm so excited about the album coming out! I can’t wait for the fans Representing the host country and being the representative of such a large event is a great responsibility. Moreover, Eurovision is an important event for the Brits, and after Sam Ryder’s successful performance in 2022 it's an even bigger honor. But Mae did not hesitate for a second: The UK is staging the competition on behalf of Ukraine, whose entrant Kalush Orchestra took the 2022 honours with the song Stefania. Ukraine is unable to take on hosting duties in 2023 due to the ongoing conflict following Russia’s invasion. It will mark the first time the contest has been held in England since 1998 in Birmingham.
