About this deal

It seems to me that this is somehow "richer", and more refined and more complex than the original Pure Malt, yet I can't quite put my finger on why I prefer the newer frag. You feel happy, appreciative of the beauty of life and what it offers when the amber hits. You go to the oasis and savor every drop of the cool water. Personally I find that scotch smells much nicer than it tastes, although I would love to find some that tastes the way Pure Malt smells. Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Malt EDT is a fantastic, strong, sweet vanilla, boozy, malt, whiskey, resinous amber, and coffee fragrance.

If you travel to UAE, you'll find many more local brands with almost identical scent. I think the name Amber Wood is a bit misleading because the amber note in this fragrance is not the heavy amber resins which is the common one. I always find that note too feminine and mature. Instead what you get here is a very musky and fresh amber. Jesus del Pozo Halloween Man X EDT is a good, sweet tonka, boozy whiskey, coffee, and spicy cinnamon fragrance.Sillage at the first 2 hours is room filling with 2 sprays. Then it gets closer to the skin but still recognizable within 24 hours. Mugler originally trained as a dancer and worked professionally starting at age 14. After studying interior design, he moved to Paris at age 24 and began working as a window dresser and freelance designer. His first personal collection for women was produced in 1973. Mugler opened his first Paris boutique and also launched a menswear collection in 1978. His style is distinguished by its futuristic shapes and fantasy elements. This is a great fragrance for a night out, especially if going to a bar or a venue where alcohol is served. Quite a youthful scent, but certainly can be worn by any age, including the ladies.

The end game seems similar to original A*Men. Pure Malt winds up confectionary-like because of the dominant vanilla. Sniffing my wrist after seven or eight hours I smell toffee, though I'm surprised to discover some residual patchouli lingers at this very late stage. I'd be rating Pure Malt appreciably higher had the whiskey and peat notes properly lasted into the dry down and blunted the potent vanilla.

There are still similarities in the dry down, but I prefer the fruity woodsiness of A*Men Ultimate, that almost lends this fragrance a leathery accord, and maybe some light licorice. This is a nice surprise, as I don’t get that scent from Rochas. Rochas has more of a musky perfumey vibe to it as well when it dries down. A*Men Ultimate has its own unique scent on dry down, which comes within the hour. As it dries down, hints of the original A*Men make an appearance. It becomes fruitier and brighter than Rochas, and they take different directions upon dry down. There is a hint of A*Men Pure Malt DNA in there somewhere too, leaving a slightly boozy touch. There is a beautiful woody coffee creaminess in the dry down that sets this one apart from the others.

With a 60-year-long tradition, Ajmal presents a very special and luxurious Signature collection which includes three extraordinary fragrances based on wood: Amber Wood, Hatkora Wood and Santal Wood. The name of the collection is W Series and it provides three niche compositions as additions to the current rich offer of the house of Ajmal, which will provide top quality raw ingredients to customers in the Middle East. Amber, Hatkora lemon and sandalwood can be found in the ingredients of the three new perfumes and they originate from the countries best for their origin, ensuring additional value for fragrance connoisseurs. On a night in, this has great projection. The scent is smooth, rich and well balanced. The opening is beautiful and recalls the original A*men but is more welcoming, fresh and less intense. It's very casual, romantic and does not shout, so it'll get use on date nights for sure. I am kind of new to the hobby of collecting and trying new fragrances. Over the past few months I’ve had the opportunity to try about 70 fragrances. As a massive fan of the A*Men flanker line, I have A*Men, Pure Tonka, Pure Shot(Energy), Pure Havane, Pure Malt, B*Men and Pure Leather, so I decided to add the most recent flanker A*Men Ultimate to my collection. Since this was released in 2019, I decided I better grab it before it was discontinued and shot up into the hundreds like all the other flankers. I am still hoping to get a bottle of Pure Coffee and Pure Wood. I can live without the others. This could have been called Mugler Pure Sage, but I guess that doesn’t have much of a ring to it, so Ultimate prevailed.Giorgio Armani Code Profumo EDP is a very good, intense, sweet, tonka, leather, spicy cardamom, and nutmeg fragrance. Killian Single Malt EDP is a great, sweet, vanilla, fruity plum, boozy whiskey-like, and resinous fragrance. IMO, this is the best in the line. This scent reeks of the word "classy." The only downside is that it is so classy, you cannot use it casually. On the bright side, you can use it at any formal occasion.
