Get Started Get started with the Varjo headset. We’ll guide you through the software installation, headset setup, and help you get the most out of your device. In the SteamVR application window, go to Menu > Room setup and follow the instructions. We recommend you choose the Standing Only setup, which is the most straightforward option.

Before using the headset, clear the room of obstacles and hazards, people, furniture, and any other items to ensure that you have enough space both above and around you. Two different power plugs are included in the box (European type C and North American type A). Use a standard power adapter if needed. Note: If you have previously paired your controllers with another VR headset, they will need to be paired again with your Varjo headset. From the SteamVR room setup instructions, select Launch SteamVR and wait for the application to open. Alternatively, you can manually open SteamVR on your Windows computer.If you're someone that hates having cables running everywhere, VR may not be for you. On top of the 3 required power cords (2 of which will likely be running down your wall to power the base stations), the link box has an HDMI and USB cable that connects to your PC. There's also a port for the 16.4-foot proprietary HTC cable, which plugs into the headset. You can set your preference to stationary or sitting, which minimizes the space you need to move around, but it still requires much more room than general PC gaming. Not to mention the components, like the VIVE controllers and the headset itself, aren't compact in any regard. In the room setup, the maximum size appears to be capped at 4x4 meters. While this does not impact the correct positioning of a larger chaperone or the actually playable space, it might be useful to see the actual measurements after room calubration. Note: If you use SteamVR™ 1.0 base stations, ensure that the base stations have a direct line of sight both with the headset and each other. My available space has an irregular shape. As much as I appreciate the clarity and fluidity provided by the VIVE Pro 2 headset, I absolutely loathe the amount of space and power outlets it devoured. Granted, I have a few quirks at home like two cats and an ever-shrinking office, so it's possible my current setup just isn't made for comfortable PC VR gaming. The only thing that is probably uncommon is that we have placed two of the stations (S-2 and S-3) lower than the others (1vs3 meters height) as an experiment.
