About this deal

Using just a small sample of hair/fur, we can extract a huge wealth of data in the Test My Pets laboratories, allowing us to test against 300 items includingMeats and Dairy, Egg, Glutenand Vegetables, Non-food Environmental Items, Metals Vitamins and Minerals. We strongly advise that puppies and kittens are given their initial vaccines when they are young as the immunity they get from mum starts to drop as they get older and needs a boost. This initial vaccine course comprises of two vaccines given 2 – 4 weeks apart for dogs and 3-4 weeks apart for cats, followed by their first ‘booster’ when they are just over a year old. Diagnosing what’s wrong with a pet can be a challenge – they can’t tell us directly how they feel, or where it hurts. Getting to the bottom of what’s wrong with a pet can take a bit of detective work. We advocate discovering the cause of your pet’s sensitivities and learning which foods and products are best for your pet—and which to avoid. Discover which pet was the cleverest, how much people spend on their animals, and how your pets responded to Pet TV.

If you have any further questions related to your test result, please don't hesitate to reach out to [email protected] and the team will be more than happy to help. Next, think about your family’s day-to-day life. How often are you away during the day? Are there people with special needs in your home? What are their ages? Do you lead an active lifestyle or do you spend your free time relaxing in front of the TV? Are pet allergies a concern?

Sometimes there’s more than one way to treat your pet. Your vet will talk you through the risks and benefits of each option.

Using just a small sample of hair/fur, we can extract a huge wealth of data in the Test My Pets laboratories, allowing us to test against 300 items including Meats and Dairy, Egg, Gluten and Vegetables, Non-food Environmental Items, Metals Vitamins and Minerals. Please note that while simply avoiding known allergens may help to reduce symptoms, it’s often unlikely to completely resolve them. Therefore, an additional form of treatment (e.g. medication) is usually required too. To complicate things still further titre tests are not 100% reliable and there are many different tests available on the market. It is possible to get false negative results (where the test says your pet has less antibodies than it actually does) and false positive results (where the test says your pet has more antibodies than it actually does). False positive results can lead you to believe that your dog has antibody protection against disease that it doesn’t have. This means that the presence of antibodies, or their absence, may not necessarily tell us if your pet will or will not get a disease.

How do vets diagnose pets?

Our pet test is one of the most comprehensive on the market and tests for most common pet food items, but also covers a variety of human foods that pets may unintentionally consume. Most pet people know the long- term side effects of prescription drugs like steroids and antihistamines. Many also recognize that many pet foods designed for sensitivities of pets, while providing relief from these intolerances, are also devoid of much of the nutritional value necessary to ensure a long and healthy life for your pet. Our Standard Equine Sensitivity Test is designed as your first step to a better understanding of your animal.

When choosing a dog breed, you’ll want to start by considering your living space. Do you live in an apartment, a large house, or something in between? Do you have a fenced-in yard? Is your home located in the city, the suburbs, or out in the country? Do you have other pets? All dogs are friendly if socialized from an early age. That said, some breeds are known for their love of all people. Some of these breeds with particularly outgoing personalities include: the Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Poodle (whether Standard or Toy), Beagle, and Pembroke Welsh Corgi. If you are bringing home a very young pup (i.e. <12 weeks of age) and want to get a better sense of its sociability, you should spend some time with its parents, as pups often inherit their parents' temperaments. If the puppy is older (i.e. 4-6 months old), you can likely observe its social aptitude firsthand by spending time with the puppy. What Is a Good Breed for a First Time Owner? All test results may be used for research purposes. In using the information from the DNA single gene health test result, users accept all the conditions set out above. Therefore the presence of antibodies to a particular illness may suggest that your pet is immune to that illness. All of our vets are more than happy to discuss our vaccination protocols and provide you with any information you may need to make an informed choice that is right for your pet and your family.

Not all illnesses can be 100% confirmed by tests. Some tests might be painful or dangerous, particularly for older pets. If your vet has narrowed it down to two or three likely illnesses, they may recommend trying one treatment at a time and seeing which helps your pet. Your vet is using years of training and experience to make this decision and will always keep the welfare of your pet as a priority. As we have resolved your issue, would you please consider amending or removing the review as it contains incorrect information? If you have any further questions or queries regarding the test results, our expert and friendly team is available at [email protected] to answer any questions you may have. As part of testing for an allergy, your vet will likely suggest carrying out an elimination diet for your pet. This will involve feeding your pet an alternative diet (usually called a hydrolysed protein diet), which cuts out likely allergens. Then, after the dietary exclusion period, you’ll start reintroducing ‘normal’ foods – it should be obvious from these test results which (if any) foods trigger allergic reactions in your pet. Talk to you. No-one knows your pet better than their owner and you can give your vet lots of important information. They’ll ask about your pet’s history, behaviour and any changes in the way they’ve been acting. If you notice a change in your pet (e.g. they’re eating less or going to the toilet more often) make a note so you can tell your vet. This test was developed from the ground up to measure about 100 of the most common allergens that your pet may be reacting to. We not only test for common foods and environmental factors, you will also learn which popular supplements and even every-day household products may be causing your pet to react. Get to the bottom of your dog’s well-being Diagnosing the problem is just the first step in their treatment. Next, your vet will talk you through what’s best for your pet.
