it feels very anachronistic the way they criticize the episodes not having in mind it was other times and that was the norm and even the marginalized people would view and relate to themselves in a similar way. The experts tell me it was probably a court painter," replied the Russian leader, "who must have been commissioned to execute the copy only months before the Revolution took place. It has always worried the curator at the Winter Palace that the Tsar's traditional silver crown was not attached to But I always thought that the silver crown had been removed by a souvenir hunter even before we had entered St Petersburg."

Zaborski slowly read the hand-written testimony that had been signed by the Tsar hours before his execution. Zaborski's hands began to tremble and a bead of sweat appeared on his forehead long before heFinally paid up, thought Adam. "To the Old Con-temptibles, fifteen pounds. And to the Appleshaw Parish Church, ten pounds." Death membership, Adam mused. "To Wilf Proudfoot, our loyal gardener part time, ten pounds, and to Mrs Mavis Cox, our daily help, five pounds."

In the UK video collection Star Trek: The Next Generation - 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition, under the "Riker" section, 29 September 1997 The "item in question" that Adam's father's letter leads him to acquire from a safe deposit box in Switzerland is a precious Russian Orthodox icon made long ago for the Russian tsars which by misadventure came into the possession of Hermann Göring sometime in the 1930s. Following the Second World War Göring wanted Scott's father (one of his jailers at Nuremberg) to have it in token of his kind treatment and because Göring realized Scott's father would be unfairly blamed for his pre-execution suicide.I liked the plot of A Matter of Honour and how you developed suspicions of all the characters. The pace was good and the story was engaging. I liked how all the little details sparked in your head making you think, “this is relevant”.

The first few chapters build up the story after which the action starts, with a few deaths of course. (How will it be a thriller otherwise, huh?) There are layers and layers of mystery. Initially, it was a bit amusing to see Adam's unawareness about the situation, a man who's on the run for his life without even knowing why. What he thinks of as inheriting a mere painting to be auctioned off and earned money from, unknown to him is actually a worldwide political drama, where no one is to be trusted. Nevertheless, a tale of the East vs the West of powers that be, it was a thrilling ride from the get-go. There was also talks about a movie being made, I wonder when it would materialise. A Threesome Is Hot: When two Klingon women seem to show interest in Riker, and one of the men suggests that they want to see how well Riker can endure them, he responds, "One or both?" This show of bravado endears him to the Klingons, including the women. Then there’s the evidence of the splintered lance in the practice ring. We’re told that a lance is used in the field, not in the bullring. (“No one uses a lance in the ring.”) And we know Hector was carrying it on the day Curro fought the bull — but never would have brought it into the ring if, in fact, Montoya was diverting the bull while Hector dragged Curro out. He only would have brought it in if his role and Montoya’s were reversed. So something must have prevented Montoya from facing the bull himself.
