About this deal

Catwoman and the Riddler takes a trip to Rome where Catwoman meets The Blonde, a hit-man, who sets us a meeting between Selina and the capo of the Italian mob – Don Verinni. However, he is murdered by Joker's Venom and Catwoman is blamed for the act. Throughout her adventure in Rome, Catwoman eventually deduced the truth – The Riddler has betrayed her, because he thinks Catwoman knows the answer the greatest riddle of all – who is the person under the cowl of Batman. Catwoman would eventually return to Gotham City with no proof of her ancestry. Films that incorporate holidays into their stories are typically meant to tap into a collective seasonal feeling, with the narrative’s biggest impact arriving while the real-life festivities are at their crest. People who enjoy films like National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation at Christmas may still find it funny in June, but it doesn’t hit the same way it does for people who are actively in the midst of stressing out about buying presents and spending time with extended family.

Like most books with Loeb and Sale at the helm, “Batman: Haunted Knight” feels like a warm blanket on a chilly stormy night. It will wrap you up in its scares, nostalgia, and well told Batman stories. This is a must read this time of year and it makes for one of the best Halloween comics ever produced. The Haunted Knight Absolute Edition comprises of four stories. The first three, 'Fears', 'Madness' and 'Ghosts' were originally released as Halloween special issues of Legends of the Dark Knight between 1993 and 1995. These three issues later inspired the same creative team to create The Long Halloween. The fourth story in this book, 'Catwoman: When in Rome', is set parallel to the later issues of Dark Victory and showcase Catwoman's adventures during her absence after The Long Halloween and during the first half of Dark Victory. The short stories make up roughly a third of this book, while the latter two thirds feature Catwoman's miniseries.

Batman: Haunted Knight does everything you want in a Halloween special. It features the creepiest spooks in Batman’s already terrifying rogues gallery. It’s instantly accessible to a new reader. It showcases some of the best talent of the time. And on top of all that, it’s still a great exploration of the major themes of Batman through the lens of Halloween. Scarecrow on the other hand, was busy blowing up power stations so he could loot the city in the dark, because that is definitely something the scarecrow would do. And here I was thinking he was obsessed with fear. Besides, didn't 'Scarecrow Poison' make people fearful and afraid? Then why did Batman dream of a relatively happy thing? And how did Halloween play a part in any of this? Finally, DC included Catwoman: When in Rome in this edition as well. I was really happy about this. I wasn’t crazy about this book when it first came out, but I ended up enjoying it a little more this time around. Selina makes a trip to Italy, with Edward Nigma in tow, in search of some answers about her own past. Could have used a little more Batman, but what story wouldn’t be better with a little more Batman? I really like Loeb’s Selina and this was a nice little garnish for The Long Halloween and Dark Victory.

CATWOMAN: WHEN IN ROME takes place concurrently with DARK VICTORY, and features Catwoman on her own adventure that ties into the other stories only tangentially. The story probably doesn’t deserve 6 issues, and neither mystery (there are two central ones) is particularly interesting. Loeb writes Catwoman like a teenage boy who doesn’t talk to girls —- there’s a lot of “wouldn’t it be naughty if she said/did THIS?” energy in this story. The primary mystery —- the question of Catwoman’s parentage —- could have been much better with only a little more work, but that time was spent on an unnecessary supervillain subplot instead. The artwork leans into cheesecake at times, but is overall the most impressive work Sale produces in this volume. You can feel the vulnerability and sadness in Bruce. You understand why he risks his own happiness and life so others can live in a better world. You have empathy and sympathy for him and you want him to be happy. That also gives a nice contrast between Bruce and Batman. Seeing Batman solving cases and going against criminals and villains is awesome. What's even better is the reason he does it. Why does multimillionaire puts on a Bat- suit and fights crime?

Batman the haunted knight" is a comic written by the legendary Jeph Loeb and drawn by the incredible Tim Sale. This comic is actually separated in three independent chapters that were made for Legend of the dark knight Halloween specials in 1993, 1994 and 1995. Madness gives us a story involving The Mad Hatter as he forces Batman to confront his unresolved issues surrounding his parents death. A side note: I love playing I Spy The Quote From One of Nolan's Films. From Fears, "Professor Crane isssn't here right now. But, if you'd like to make an appointment--?" Fans of the Caped crusader can find many good stories. Some short, while some take you on a long journey before they finally conclude their run. Many of them i like. There are some stories though, that i don't like..but i love. The first time Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale teamed up on Batman was for three Halloween specials for “Legends of the Dark Knight.” It was later reprinted as “Haunted Knight” to make for a fun and creepy anthology series inspired by Halloween and classic horror stories. Using some of the key villains from Batman’s Rogues Gallery, Loeb sets them against The Dark Knight in ways meant to excite and terrify. A great read for this time of year, it may not have the recognition of the creative duos other outings, but it is a must for fans of this team, and of this era of “Batman.” It is because of this that fans were graced with “The Long Halloween,”“Dark Victory,” and “Catwoman: When in Rome.”
