About this deal

Along with its neighbor Cornwall, Devon seems to be the one region of the UK seemingly designed to appeal to tourists and holidaymakers. Quite apart from the (ever so slightly) Mediterranean climate, Devon has some of Europe's best coastline (for sheer variety) and a magnificent landscape of rolling farmland and fields, steep craggy hills, wild and awe-inspiring moorland as well as the obligatory white sandy beaches and waves made for surfing. Clitheroe, Barrow, Chatburn, Dunsop Bridge, Gisburn, Hurst Green, Pendleton, Sabden, Slaidburn, Waddington, Whalley, Whitewell, Wiswell

When I have large numbers of postcodes I found the Mapsdata heatmapping feature really useful. This shows the same data as a heatmap. Mapsdata heatmap feature This Google Sheets add-on allows me to plot postcodes onto a Google Map. When I put the data into a Google Sheet and select the relevant columns, I can create a map with pins to show the locations of the football stadiums. Glasgow, like London, was divided into compass districts: C, W, NW, N, E, SE, S, SW. When postcodes were introduced, these were mapped into the new G postcode: C1 became G1, W1 became G11, N1 became G21, E1 became G31, S1 became G41, SW1 became G51, and so on. As NW and SE had never been subdivided they became G20 and G40 respectively. This is an example of the clustering feature. The marks show how many stadiums there are in the area. Controls on the left allow the geographical distances to be adjusted. Mapsdata clustering feature The map is supplied as a PDF file scaled specifically for printing at “A” format paper sizes. From A4 upwards the text is legible, and the artwork will scale neatly and sharply at all sizes.

A postcode area is the geographical unit and forms the initial characters of the alphanumeric UK postcode. There is a total of 124 postcode areas in the UK.

E1, E1W, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, E7, E8, E9, E10, E11, E12, E13, E14, E15, E16, E17, E18, E20, E77, E98 The Crown dependencies (which are not part of the United Kingdom) did not introduce postcodes until later, but use a similar coding scheme. They are separate postal authorities. [1] Postcode area YO1, YO10, YO19, YO23, YO24, YO26, YO30, YO31, YO32, YO41, YO42, YO43, YO51, YO60, YO61, YO62, YO90, YO91Why is that? It is because the United Kingdom does not use the term ZIP Codes but instead uses postcodes. It has been a reliable delivery system to organize bundles of mail into the correct delivery bag and then to the proper post office. In this post, I want to share some free tools that I use to convert postcode data into useful maps. My example shows sample data of football stadiums in Great Britain . Mapping Sheets
