About this deal

Nitenpyram: Commonly sold under the trade name Capstar, this adulticide has the ability to destroy a large flea population in under 30 minutes. Nitenpyram is generally considered safe for kittens at least 4 weeks of age and weighing at least 2 lbs. Totally stain and grease-free, meaning you can spray it over beds, curtains, carpets, and cushions without worrying about leaving any marks. It also repels mosquitoes and since it’s manufactured in the USA, you know the ingredients are of high quality. CAPSTAR tablets start killing fleas in 30 minutes and achieve greater than 90 percent effectiveness within six hours. In addition to its fast-acting effectiveness, one of the big advantages to CAPSTAR Fast-Acting Oral Fela Treatment for Cats is that its dosing doesn't change depending on your cat's size, as is the case with a lot of topical treatments. Instead, CAPSTAR will work for any cat or kitten more than two pounds and over four weeks old. Natural, homeopathic or essential oil treatments may harm your kitten, so avoid using these, especially if you haven’t consulted your vet first.

Most cat owners that use preventatives use spot-ons because they are easy to use and last a good amount of time but if your cat will take a treat, oral products may be a good option, too. Collars are easy to place on a cat that will allow them but as previously discussed, concerns surround the use of flea collars. Pyriproxyfen - Disrupts flea egg and larval development. Does not kill adult fleas. Applied topically or in sprays. Very safe for use, including with pregnant or lactating cats. S-methoprene: Like pyriproxyfen, this chemical mimics natural hormones, preventing the fleas from ever growing up and making eggs of their own. To kill anything that the bath didn’t completely get rid of we need a preventative. With the baby being under 6 weeks of age we have to be careful with what we use. Treat your home - 95% of a flea infestation is in the home, this means that if your cat has fifty fleas on them, your home is likely to have up to one thousand fleas and eggs - and they can survive for up to a year! You can buy household flea spray from your vets or online. As always you’ll be wanting to get a good deal on a flea spray. Most have similar natural ingredients and as such, you can probably get a much better deal by comparing the natural oils used in two competing products and opting for the cheaper brand if they’re the same. One old myth says that kittens can be born with fleas, but this is not true; however, if the queen has fleas or if there are fleas on other pets or soft furnishings in the home, kittens can catch fleas pretty much immediately after they are born. You can combine several products to keep your house and your pet’s fur clean. Here are some steps to help get your pest plan in place: Some ingredients are simply not safe to use as flea treatments in cats. Products specifically designed for dogs are sometimes dangerous to use in cats but even some products labeled or marketed for cats can be harmful. Lastly, topical products like Frontline have been known to cause skin and eye irritation in people. It is best to wear disposable gloves when applying the spray and to wash your hands after.

Application method. The most common flea treatments are topical spot-on solutions, tablets, and powders. Topical spot-on solutions definitely lead the way in terms of effectiveness, but they can be accidentally ingested and some leave an oily residue. Tablets are also a good option if your kitten has sensitive skin, but they usually need to be given more often. Powders are a good short-term option but need frequent reapplication. It’s important to note here that the spray cannot be used in a single application spot at the base of the head the way the spot-on products can be used. Spot-on products have a carrier agent that allow the drug to spread throughout the oils of the coat over about 18 to 24 hours. The spray must be used more liberally across the entire coat and body to be effective. The active ingredient in CAPSTAR—nitenpyram—has been extensively studied and found to be both safe and effective (in most cases, even more effective than CAPSTAR's 90 percent claim). Side effects are rare, but you should monitor your cat for 24 hours after dosing, watching out for symptoms like hyperactivity, panting, lethargy, itching, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, salivation, seizures, and pupil dilation. UltraGuard is safe to use on rugs, carpets, bedding, and furniture, leaving no stains or residue while removing odors in the process. Protection lasts around 7 months after applying which is as good as you’ll find from a flea spray designed for home use!

There are numerous natural treatments that can deter fleas, but very few can eliminate a flea infestation. David J. Shuman, DVM says, “I’ve tried—or have had clients try—eucalyptus oil, peppermint soap, garlic powders, B12, brewer’s yeast, essential oils, and a long list of other ingredients. This is a well-worn path that often leads to futility.”When using the spray, you’ll need to remove all pets and humans (including you when you’re finished!) from the area treated for a short period as per the instructions provided. Disturbingly, flea treatments have been connected to toxicity in cats thousands of times over the years. Some flea treatments have remained on the market while presenting a risk to both cats and humans. And even if you choose an insecticide with a great reputation, it’s hard to predict whether your cat will have a bad reaction. Frontline Spray for cats is considered waterproof, but the manufacturer does recommend waiting 48 hours before bathing, and to use a soap-free shampoo. Whichever flea treatment you choose for your kitten, getting into a regular cycle of treatment means your kitten won’t be plagued by those uncomfortable biting insects and neither will you or your family! This leaves more time for everyone to enjoy those adorable kitten cuddles.

Some products are easier to use than others. Shampoos, sprays, dips, bombs, powders, and combs take more effort and planning to use while spot-ons, orals, collars, and injections may be easier to administer. From a distance of about 15cm spray the product onto the roots of the coat and onto the skin. Work from the rear to the head to give an even spread of product over the main body area. There are several topical cat-safe flea control products on the market. It’s very important to avoid using products labeled for dogs on cats. (These can lead to a deadly allergic reaction and an emergency vet visit.) If possible, avoid flea dips, sprays, powders, or collars. If you choose to use such products, do your homework and discuss with your vet. It’s important to be absolutely sure that the ingredients used are safe for cats. How long until fleas go away? Mix two tablespoons of white vinegar with three drops of cedarwood oil and a cup of water. Spray it onto your pet’s fur, then brush through to coat their skin. Let it sit for 10 minutes, then brush out any excess solution. This can be applied once per week on cats and twice per week on dogs (if you can get them to sit still that long). 7) Epsom Salt + Diatomaceous Earth (Food Grade)
