About this deal

In terms of what to have this with, I like to pair it with some home-made egg fried rice, but boiled or steamed rice works just as well. It’s exactly the same batter as my gluten free sweet and sour recipe, so if you’re already acquainted with making that, then this will be a complete doddle. The spicy gravy completes the mouth-watering plate of chips, nuggets and stir-fried rice! | Image from charliedoessw How to Serve Why? Well, though I’ve gone through great lengths to ensure all these products are safe for you lovely people, you never know when ingredients might change. Plus, some products may look almost identical, but have different ingredients from store to store.

How is this gluten-free? I would have never given it a second look – that’s two Chinese curry products available in Asda including the ready meal I mentioned earlier. To me, it's also a cuisine which seems difficult to recreate at home. That is, until you actually try it and realise it's really very simple. Let me know in the comments if this has helped you discover something new - or if there is anything else I should add to the list!

Unless you are at a Chinese restaurant that specifically shares with its customers that it uses gluten-free ingredients and their food is made in a dedicated gluten-free kitchen, folks with a gluten allergy or need to avoid gluten for their dietary needs should proceed with caution. I’ve owned a lot of blenders, but my Vitamix immersion blender is definitely the best one I’ve owned. This high-speed blender will blend even the toughest of ingredients into pulp. I prefer using my immersion blender for recipes like this sauce, as it’s much easier to manage than transferring all the ingredients to a stand blender. This is definitely one kitchen appliance we use on a weekly basis! More Delicious Sauce Recipes You’ll Love! Carrot or button mushrooms: I used carrot in the photos, but I’ve included button mushrooms in the recipe as we sometimes use those too. We also recommend using a mixture of cumin, coriander and turmeric instead of curry powder. Blending these ingredients will give you a similar taste. Try experimenting with nutmeg or cinnamon as well. It enhances the earthy flavour of the condiment and makes your spice blend sing. Cooking Tips This will help prevent gluten from going from one dish into your gluten-free dish, cutting down the opportunity of cross contamination. Cross Contamination is Almost Guaranteed

This vegan Chinese curry is an easy, home made version of a classic British Chinese takeaway curry sauce. You defo have to deep fry these to get the full-effect, but honestly, they’re everything you’ve ever missed in a spring roll. Add the coconut milk to the pot, and give it a good stir. With your immersion handheld blender, blend the sauce for 3-4 minutes until smooth. Add fresh chopped cilantro for garnish, and enjoy! It's pretty much all store-cupboard ingredients too, so you shouldn't need to do too much shopping to make this.I like to blend my sauce so that it is completely smooth. You can skip this step if you want however. Removing batter from fish does NOT make it safe to eat as it will already have been contaminated withgluten.

If it’s so incredibly easy that you fancy a little extra leg-work, then why not make your own sweet chilli sauce while you’re there too? Sriracha sauce is gluten-free and combined with gluten-free tamari soy sauce is an excellent sauce on many dishes. When you’re trying to avoid gluten, be on the lookout for these different types of dishes on the menu as they very likely contain gluten or wheat.

One of the foods I miss the most on a gluten free diet is Chinese food - so making my own gluten free Chinese curry recipe was a no-brainer!

After the 15 minutes is up, add the yoghurt, spinach and chilli flakes and sugar (if using). Stir well and cook for a further 2-3 minutes until the spinach has wilted. Taste and season with extra salt or sugar to taste if needed. Once the onions have softened, add the spice mix to the pan. Add the garlic paste and then use a fine grater to grate the (peeled) ginger into the pan. Stir well for around 30 seconds, so the onions are completely coated. I tend to serve plain basmati rice, though I do also love pilau rice and have a really easy recipe for cheat's pilau rice here. Finding a gluten free Chinese restaurant is a rarity as most dishes use soy sauce, which unfortunately isn't gluten free. There are plenty to choose from – here are a couple of easy gluten free dinner ideas to get you going: Garlic and Ginger - I tend to either use chopped frozen garlic and ginger, or pastes. I find this a lot easier but if you prefer, use the equivalent amount of fresh and chop finely. Perkier actually started out more as a free from brand, but you might miss them with their new branding – they’re now outside of the free from aisle mixed in with all the muggle cereal bars. I like to call this a 'dump and go' recipe because you literally put it all in, stir and then leave it to cook.
