About this deal

Shark also does an excellent job on carpets. Most Shark upright models have a specific setting for carpet and they leave them looking far better than they found them. We find our carpets look brilliant after we’re done cleaning them with our Shark NZ690UKT. Henry’s little sister is Hetty. She comes with all the same features as Henry, but the introduction of Eco technology helps you to save the planet and your wallet at the same time. A smaller size means she’s easier to store, but a 9-litre bag capacity, means there’s plenty of dust storage room. The EcoBrush came in handy during testing for giving upholstery and stairs a once over, according to our vacuum expert Jen. Another standout feature is the impressive suction that works well on carpet and hard floors, part in thanks to the universal floorhead.

If we were in the construction business, we could see the appeal of having Charles around for those messy post-build clean up jobs. Detailed below are what you should look for – or what you should ask yourself – before you buy your Henry vacuum cleaner. Dust Bin Capacity The classic Henry model is equipped with 6L of cleaning capacity meaning you can go for months without ever having to think about changing out the dust bag.

Hetty

The original Henry hoover is the most popular of the range and compares relatively well in terms of weight at 7.5kg. This is a fairly typical weight level for cylinder vacuum cleaners with several Miele models for example weighing in at around 7.4 – 8.4kg. Though slightly heavier than the original Henry, the Eco still provides 6 litres of dust bin capacity and a 10 metre cable for good reach around your cleaning area. The Henry XL Plus is a bigger version of the classic Numatic vacuum with more tools and accessories. But is it worth buying? Let’s find out!

The ease of cleaning the stairs is one of the areas where Shark do excel with their upright vacuum cleaners. Though strictly speaking they produce uprights, their distinctive Lift-Away technology it means they provide a two-in-one combination; an upright and a portable canister-type vacuum cleaner. With a six Litre capacity, Hetty is the same size as the Henry 160-11, but is smaller than the Henry 200-11 which comes in at 9 litres. So is Hetty smaller than Henry? It all depends on which model you’re comparing against. At 7.5kg the Henry hoover is quite a chunky model. You won’t notice this too much as you move around on hard floors or low pile carpets for example as it will be easy enough to move it on its wheels. Even on higher pile carpets though it will take a bit more effort to pull it around as you vacuum. Having a huge capacity comes with an obvious downside: weight. At 10kg, it’s one of the heaviest home vacuums we’ve reviewed. To put it in context, this is more than twice the 4.6kg of the Duronic VC7020 and the 4.9kg of the Miele Compact C2 Cat and Dog. Henry comes with a hard floor setting which tailors the height of the brush on the floor head to suit hard floors. Henry does an excellent job of reaching dust and dirt on hard floors and you can always tell when it’s been through a round.

FAQ’s about the Henry Vacuum Range

Staying at the 7.5kg weight class is another Henry copy but with a significant twist. The Henry Allergy is specifically designed to combact allergens present in the home with an advanced HEPA filtration system. When it comes to cleaning on stairs, there is a clear and stark difference between Henry and Shark upright models. He offers two useful features. The first is a dual purpose hairo-brush which is fantastic for scrubbing off stubborn pet hairs and other stains, the second is a carbon filter designed to combat unpleasant smells. The MicroFresh filter activated charcoal filter will minimise the bad smells your pets can create. Crevice Tool: This is a tube with a thin end that helps to get into those tight spaces such as in between sofas and underneath the fridge where crumbs can fall and be forgotten. It is very handy as well in the car as well as the corners of stairs and near the skirting boards. With Shark upright vacuum models on the other hand you get a small fraction of the cleaning capacity when compared to Henry, with the Shark NZ690UKT for example bringing you 1.1L in comparison. This is not only restricted to the NZ690UKT as most of the Shark upright models have similar capacities with 1.1L actually being on the high-end. What you do get with the Shark though is a bagless cleaning solution meaning you don’t have to buy replacement bags or fiddle around with changing them out.
