It is a solvable problem for sure, and it is part of our product roadmap, but this is the first version of this camera and I think there is enough functionality without allowing multi pairing. As for the setup: it works. The basic functionality is exactly what I hoped it would be. I already had a tablet, and the camera cost me far less than half of what the Live View Golf camera would. In addition, I can use the camera for other things; for instance, I'm hoping to get a drone with a GoPro mount to take video footage. That's not something that LVG, being a single-purpose device, would do.

There were many prescient followers of the professional game, who considered LIV to be the second coming of Covid-19, albeit with a victim pool interested only in golf. There was a multitude of the lesser-informed, who latched onto words like betrayal, isolation, and sportswashing, in an effort to understand what was happening in the game of professional golf. Social media apps were awash in uncountable numbers of questions, opinions, accusations, and outright truths and lies, about what was going on with a league that snatched some of the best male touring professionals away from the PGA Tour. The first three editions of the tournament have been dominated by the players who have the best short games on TOUR. Live View Golf is a portable camera and app suite that offers users the ability to view their swings in real time on their cell phones or tablets with the aid of plane lines and other markers. With Live View, you can literally watch your swing slowed down, instantly on your phone/tablet/computer, WITHOUT having to get out of posture and disrupt your practice session… The wifi chipset is a function of size and power consumption. I realize that 802.11 technology is marching on and getting faster all the time, but there are practical issues in implementing the latest chip sets. Other than cost, the bigger issue is size and power consumption. As new wifi chipsets are released they are normally stand alone silicon at first. This means that there is a lot of extra hardware required to build a fully functional wifi router and all the extra hardware requires space and power.As the chipsets get older, the wifi chipsets get cheaper. Eventually the price drops enough to where it makes sense to combine silicon into multi-function SOC, essentially a single chip that does it all. For gamers the most obvious analogy is in graphics cards. Graphic cards used to be separate addons to your PC. Now even entry level Processors have a built in graphics library, with the latest graphic cards being huge hulking beasts laden with hurricane generating fans.

When it comes to value, the question is simply, “How much do you want to use video?” If you like seeing your swing, this is the best device I’ve seen, period. That said, the price will be too high for some. What Live View does, then, is give you a camera that you can set up on the range that connects wirelessly to your tablet. You can set your tablet directly in front of you, and you can see your swing in real time. This is even better than mirror work, because (and I trust we've all done this) you don't have to change your head position to see the video that's directly in front of you. At this point, you may still have my initial question: “Why is this special?” Here are the two key points.Now, you might ask, “why is the LiveView Pro better than just using your phone?” My answer? The digital mirror function. The live streaming video functions as a digital mirror so you can view your swing in real time without ever leaving your swing setup. Simply look down at the tablet setup in front of you to view your swing from whatever angle you position the camera. This eliminates the change in swing positioning that you’d normally get from moving your head to look at a swing mirror. This is also particularly useful for down-the-line swings, which your typical swing mirror can’t show you. The rough at Port Royal Golf Club can actually be quite unforgiving, so it will be important to target accurate golfers. As evidenced by both Brendon Todd and Brian Gay winning here, distance off the tee won’t be much of a factor.
