About this deal

Here’s a look at the 2 instruction booklets included. As I received this set fairly late, and only had less than 48 hours to build an almost 6,000 set set to ensure this review could get close to catching the embargo, I was really glad that the 2 books included allows you to build in tandem with a partner. Would be nice to a Brazilian stadium someday, but unlikely to happen. Regarding their appeal, as some people are questioning why a third stadium set, I see the same from the Architecture sets. If it were for me, I would even more future similar releases to that theme. There are so many great design flourishes, and Milan was undoubtedly aided by the architecture of the stadium itself, but he managed to solve some really ingenious problems through clever LEGO engineering and techniques. Building any of these stadiums is akin in depth and detail, accuracy and authenticity to an Architecture set, and while they all sit within a similar style of design, the details between each set shape and create unique experiences to each. To that end, 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is the third stadium we are building and it is as interesting to do so as 10272 Old Trafford – Manchester United was, and more so than the quite repetitive-by-nature 10284 Camp Nou – FC Barcelona.

Built during the 1940s, the stadium was initially an uncovered, two-tier design and was coined the Nuevo Estadio Chamartín when inaugurated in 1947, as it replaced the club’s previous Chamartín Stadium that had suffered damage during the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s. Within five years of opening, President Bernabéu began work to increase the 75,000 capacity to 125,000 by adding a third tier to one of the side terraces, and to further modernise the stadium – this was completed in 1954 and a year later the ground was renamed in honour of Bernabéu.It’s satisfying to say, three stadiums into this collection, that the way you think building 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium will go is probably not the way it will actually go. It’s these unusual and unexpected ways of putting together the stadium that also have a way of drawing you in further to understand exactly what detail you’ve just added – because of the risk of an otherwise formulaic, cookie-cutter build experience, 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is smart in ways other LEGO sets don’t have to be, and it’s all the better for it. Interestingly then, 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium has been designed around how the ground looked prior to this €800m investment, meaning that when the real stadium re-opens around the end of 2022, the LEGO set won’t look anything like it. It surprises me, though. I would have thought they'd continue to produce sets that appeal to a wider audience, as they usually do."

The LEGO® Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium][1set coincides with the club’s 120th anniversary and the 75th anniversary of the iconic grounds. The impressive set features over 5,800 pieces and has been designed to be the ultimate display piece for Real Madrid C.F. and LEGO fans — and to symbolise the spectacular pride felt by fans watching a match take place at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. I remember hearing statistics that the Old Trafford set did not sell well, and I believe that applies to Barcelona too. I'm not sure where I can find the statistics, but I remember hearing that a lot from multiple people" Beyond clearly differentiating itself from 10272 Old Trafford – Manchester United and 10284 Camp Nou – FC Barcelona in build experience, 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is also a demonstration of the design team learning. Both the Old Trafford and Camp Nou sets were a pain to move due to their slot-based design, where they’d pull apart into quarters at the slightest budge. 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium is also slot-based, but in two halves, which manages to give the model a far greater level of stability and manoeuvrability. — Price — It's funny, because I doubt it'd be as big of a deal or even a deal at all if American men were historically good at football. But because they're not, it's almost like England felt like and some still feel like they need to protect the quintessence of the sport from America or something by trying to separate the same exact sport via name. It's quite literally the definition of gate keeping. As an American I love England, in fact I want to live there someday, but it's such a petty thing to squabble about. Especially considering the fact that America in turn is regularly the team to beat when it comes to the women.

Our difference

If TLG is still able to turn a profit from mass-producing these expensive niche sets (that, presumably, only 6% of their potential customers would buy), then I guess they'll still continue to make these.

Real Madrid FC are one of the biggest football clubs in the world, if not the biggest, thanks to its incredible success in the Spanish La Liga, and Champions League, the most prestigious European club football tournament.

Here’s the view of the front, and when completed, me and my wife were pretty happy with the result – the Bernabeu is a really stunning model, no thanks to its size, but also the repetitive features, and curves on the roof were particularly pleasing to the eye. This is ultimately one of the flaws of football club-based stadiums, in that it only attracts those who follow and support these clubs. Being a pretty pricey set as well puts up a very high barrier to be able to enjoy this set, so unless you’re a Real Madrid fan, or a fan of stadium architecture, it’s highly likely that you won’t feel that this set is worth the money, time or space to display it. Innovation [4]– Some really incredible techniques used here, especially for the different tiers, and just how well everything fits with minimal gaps.
