About this deal

I never got to a point where I had a smooth bottom layer. This means creases on the paper which is kind of annoying The base was covered in Martian Ironcrust, heavily drybrushed with Ryza Rust, and then lightly brushed with Eldar Flesh. A couple of Army Painter Scorched Tufts finished off the whole extra-terrestrial world look. The first one on the list which is made specifically by a company who specialises in wargames and model paints. There are numerous retail options of acrylic wet palette available. Most notable is the Everlasting WetPalette from RedGrass Games. I have both the Painter and Studio Model. I really like these palettes but the paper you get doesn’t act like shown above and this is what I’m used to. It certainly has other benefits but with the little ah-ha moment I’ve shown below.

Cut it to size, this needs to sit flat within the surface of your content without any risk of creases or folds. Step 2 – Add Water There’s a much simpler way. It reminds me of the old (made-up) adage where the American Space Programme spent millions developing a pen to write in space when the Russians took pencils. How to Make a Wet Palette – Solution I think this could be emblazoned under any The Army Painter product. To mirror exactly what I said in my The Army Painter Paint Range Review these products do what they say they will do and they do it at a fair price. It’s a really simple bit of kit and you can easily make your own. It consists of (bottom to top) a tray, a water-absorbent layer and a semi-permeable layer of paper.

The wet palette should need minimum maintenance, so you can focus on the thing you really need to do (paint!) If, however, you’re a more itinerant hobbyist – perhaps you go to a club, enjoy setting yourself up in your local hobby store or paint with a friend at their house – this may be a bit of an issue for you. If the palette is not watertight, you always run the risk of having your paints or any excess water in the Everlasting Wet Palette dripping out into the bottom of whatever bag you transport your gear in. Here on FauxHammer, we have covered wet palettes from RedGrass Games before, namely the Everlasting Wet Palette and its sequel, the Everlasting Wet Palette Painter 2. RedGrass Games have a new one now to offer – the Painter Lite. As we’ve discovered, RedGrass Games has the formula for wet palettes absolutely down – and then some. They’ve kindly sent us the Painter Lite wet palette for review, so what does this product have in store for us? Let’s take a deep dive and get wet. Whilst the larger paint area is great, the accessory notches on the side make for a less streamlined product – all for a marginally improved method of attachment for accessories that few people actually use. And the price of this is nearly half again over the Painter Lite Palette, for 20% extra space. Ease of use is big for me. And this thing is easy to use! Now I HATE to paint without it. 2. The right amount of water is seeping trough

In the Army painter Box, you also get… Another Box (Boxception?). This internal container houses your 2 Hydro Foams and your 50 Hydro Sheets along with a really useful infographic card and a thankyou. In the set I had, the paper is the same dimensions as the foam, which as I said above is the same as the recess in the tray. as soon as you put the paper on the foam it will crease as it absorbs some of the water. This is normal, just like any other brand or even Baking parchment / Papet ( again, the DIY stuff is named differently depending on where you live). You then smooth the paper out which causes it to stretch very slightly. With RGG’s Everlasting Wet Palette, I could see myself improving, feel myself getting better. I had a deeper appreciation for the work I was doing, for slowly building up of those layers, for being absolutely certain all my paints were the correct consistency before applying them, instead of just making do. Cut your Baking Paper /Parchment Paper to size. this should be slightly smaller than your we base layer.

In this guide, I’m first going to show you how to make a Wet Palette from a Tupperware container the wrong way. Don’t worry, the steps are correct, I’m not misleading you. I’m just taking you through the way I used to build my wet palette, an annoyance I had with it.If the wet palette are to provide you with any value, you have to use it. To use it, it needs to do what it needs to do without being a hindrance. This means: Keep your miniature paint wet and workable for long with the Everlasting Wet Palette Painter Lite from Redgrassgames, our most advanced hydration system yet at our most affordable price. Ok, I had to focus on this, this is new. When I reviewed the Army Painter Paint Range This little leaflet was not part of it and it’s useful to know for anyone buying The Army Painter Paints. Whilst you aren’t getting any paints or Brushes in this set. It’s nice to see TAP explain the inclusion of additional medium and the necessity to remove this before properly using the paint. I wonder if the creation of this was inspired by my review if so I’m gutted they didn’t go with the sky-writing approach.
