About this deal

This is the most durable specific kitchen cupboard paint on the market but does take awhile to dry. If you’re OK with that, this might be the paint for you. Most kitchen cabinet or cupboard paints are water-based and these are easier to apply and clean up than oil-based paints. But oil-based paints typically have a stronger finish and are less likely to chip. However, in everyday use, there isn’t much difference between the two. You might get away with a single coat of oil-based paint, but in reality, whatever paint you choose two coats are always better. Johnstone’s Cupboard Paint is very durable once set, however you will need to be careful around it during the drying process. Whilst wet it can be scratched very easily so due care and diligence is needed to ensure you don’t spoil the finish. Drying Time: Touch dry in 1 hour. Hard dry in 4 hours. May be overcoated after 4 hours. Full cure achieved after 7 days - take extra care

One of the best yet one of the cheapest – this is ideal for those working on a budget who still want a quality finish. Whilst not a specific kitchen cupboard paint, the Diamond Satinwood is suitable for application across a variety of surfaces including wood, MDF and even metals. This makes it the perfect choice for kitchen cabinets whilst you’re free to use the leftovers on any other projects you have lined up.Application: Stir thoroughly before use. The product may be appliedby brush or roller. If applying by brush, apply evenly, following the grain Also remember to place a dust sheet on the floor or an even layer of newspaper. Make sure you have all the tools too – a roller, a tray and a few paintbrushes of varying sizes. You should make sure you’re wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty, too. Clean Up: Remove as much product as possible from applicationequipment before washing with water. Do not empty into drains orwater courses. Some local authorities have special facilities for thedisposal of waste coatings. It’s also been known to be very durable which is ideal for use on kitchen cabinets as they often get touched a lot.

Choosing either a multipurpose or specific primer will be the difference between doing an okay job and getting that professional finish you’re striving for. Once your cabinets are dry and clean, find a roller or paintbrush and add the first coat of primer. The primer creates a base coat and will help avoid any future paint chipping – multiple thin layers will build up a hardiness. If your original surface is quite glossy, you might need to paint another even coat of primer. What else do I need to know? The highly pigmented formula is easy to apply by brush or roller for lasting coverage that goes a long way, even on varnished or painted surfaces. If spraying, paint should be diluted with water by 10-20% as required. Two coats are recommended When looking for the best kitchen cabinet paint overall, it’s hard to look past Johnstone’s durable Cupboard Paint. Made specifically for kitchen cabinets, this paint is a simple solution to giving your kitchen a fresh new look. Need to update a tired-looking kitchen? One of the easiest and cheapest ways to do this is by painting your cupboards. The idea of 'the painted kitchen' is a key kitchen trend this year. 'Whether your tastes change or you notice signs of wear and tear, a well-built, hand-painted kitchen can simply be sanded down and re-painted in a new colour of choice. This is a great way of renovating your kitchen without the expense of replacing whole units,' explains Charlie Smallbone, founder of Ledbury Studio. No primer or topcoat is needed for wooden or melamine cupboards (although prime surfaces where stain bleed may be an issue, including knots). You can also paint glossy cupboards – simply sand them down first with a fine grit sandpaper. The paint is water based which means you won’t need to put up with any strong odours, making it convenient to use in your kitchen without having to take all the doors off for exterior application. Of course, make sure your kitchen is well ventilated before, during and after painting. Choosing the best kitchen cabinet paint for your kitchen will very much depend on what type of cabinets you have, what type of finish you want and of course the colour. Overall this durable satin paint has a number of attractive colours to choose from and can save you thousands in renovation costs. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this paint is suitable for interior woods and metals but crucially, this includes plywood, MDF and plywood which are commonly used throughout kitchens across the UK. A huge chunk of the job is the preparation. First, remove all the drawers and handles on the cabinets, so you don’t splatter paint all over them. If that’s not an option, use masking tape to cover them. Although it might look like your cabinets are ready to meet the paint roller, it’s worth cleaning them thoroughly.

The creamy, satin paint is solvent based and is very easy to apply and easy to achieve a smooth finish when brushed vertically. Being solvent based does mean that you’ll need to take the relevant safety measures as it has a high VOC content and odour. If you’re thinking about renovating your kitchen and are going to replace your kitchen cabinets, you might be able to save yourself time, money and effort by giving them a new paint job. Described as a premium chalky blend and 'a pure treat for cupboard doors', Rust-Oleum's Kitchen Cupboard Paint is an ultra-flat matt paint with a soft to touch, yet hard-wearing finish – it can handle regular wipe-downs of splashes and splatters. Rust-Oleum Kitchen Cupboard Paint is made in the UK and offers exceptional coverage without compromise, available in a 750ml tin The only thing we would say it be extra careful with chalk paint when painting protruding areas as they can be particularly prone to paint build ups. Like most chalk paints, this one has minimal VOCs and as such little to no odour. Preparation: Ensure surface is clean, dry and free from contamination.Use sugar soap equivalent to remove all traces of contamination, rinse
