Many resorts in France and Austria are geared up for piste parties, where its not uncommon to see mountain goers dancing on the tables after a long day on the slopes, followed by late night in a club – and a sore head the next day! It’s an experience to remember when they open the roof when it’s snowing and you’re dancing to a Swedish cover band that is leading the shot taking between songs. While many argue that Après-Ski continues throughout dinner, others argue that it might last until bedtime. A nice pair of boots can make your dance moves fine as well. Of course you can wear the ski boots, but for comfort we recomend changing shoes if you are planning to be at the after ski a long time. You will probably spend enough time in your ski boots when skiing during the days.
There’s loads of bars in Alpe d'Huez to try, but no pub crawl would be complete without visiting O’Sharkeys, Smithy's, Sphere Bar, Etalon rum Bar and The Underground Bar. If you want to stay up until the sun rises then you’ll be at the Igloo Bar that gets crazier and crazier all the way until the 6am closing time. Val D’Isère (France) – Grab a mulled wine and listen to a live DJ at the famous ‘La Folie Douce’ to see what après is all about. But this is far from true. Some of the ski resorts tend to have a lot of action late at night. When you visit such places, you can find late-night parties both at bars and restaurants. And, they can last until 3 in the morning. Where to begin? East Coast or West Coast? Northwest or Southwest? The U.S. après-ski scene is as varied as its states, though an undercurrent of cheap beer and fleece runs across the country. Hearty fare in mountaintop lodges or ski bar and grills (chili and cornbread, soups, nachos, and hot chocolate are all staples) fuel full-day ski and snowboarding sessions. But that’s where the similarities end.
The après-ski scene is not identical worldwide; where and what you do changes depending on which country and resort you are in. European Alps Down in town there are more bars than you can visit in a night and the après starts early. The Frog and Roast Beef is the highest pub in Europe and draws a UK crowd. The dutch bar, Cafe Sneskois the rowdiest and most fun bar on the strip if you can take the crowds. They set the ceiling and bar on fire later in the evening but the best time to go is from 6 to 8pm where the bar staff all get involved with singing along to classics like Robbie William's angels and Hey Jude by the Beatles whilst playing drinking games which is great entertainment! VT is also home to the largest nightclub in the Alps in Malaysia. It looks like a hut on the slope as it's all underground. Après ski is the most common question we get about resorts and I agree that it is an essential part of my ski experience. I may not want to party every afternoon, but when I do, I want very good music, cold beers, cheap shooters and the option of a sunny terrace. If it’s inclement weather then an indoor area with strong tables for dancing on with ski-boots and lots of alpine memorabilia and style will do. St Anton (Austria) – The resort to popularise table dancing; famous for steins of beer, Jägermeister and oompah parties till the early morning. Much like when après-ski starts, there’s no set attire. Most skiers simply ski to the bar, loosen off their boots and grab a cold one. The majority of skiers at après-ski wear their regular ski clothing. Besides, at around 3 pm, it is a normal sight to find skiers dancing on the tables while enjoying music. When does it end?
