About this deal

The Necrontyr, the organic humanoid precursors of the Necrons, were obsessed with technological advancement to overcome their short lifespans. As a result of this obsession with scientific research, Necron technology is far in advance of anything the modern starfaring species of the galaxy can produce, including the wonders to be found on the Asuryani craftworlds, and may seem impossible or supernatural to younger, less advanced races. This has been proven many times by the Tech-priests of the Adeptus Mechanicus who have examined captured Necron weapons, and yet the Necrons have perfected this unknown technology which is based on scientific principles that were either never discovered or have long been lost to Mankind. Chronomancers are known as "Harbingers of Eternity," as knowledge of the future flows through their every act.

Only now they stalk from the shadows once more, released from exile by anti- Chaos protocols put in place against a breach from the Immaterium of cosmic scale, a breach like the birth of the Great Rift. In many ways, a Cryptek's powers mirror those employed by the psykers of other intelligent races, but instead of using their innate psychic abilities by channeling Warp energies, the Cryptek employs arcane science to harness the universe's fundamental forces. A Gauss Cannon is larger than the more common Gauss Flayers and Gauss Blasters, and consists of four barrels instead of the one for the Gauss Flayer and the two for the Gauss Blaster. Gauss Cannons fire more powerful beams than Gauss Flayers, and are more similar to Gauss Blasters in strength. However, Gauss Cannons have a better capability to be fired on the move, and shots from Gauss Cannons also contain greater armour penetration abilities; being able to rip through even Astartes power armour with ease. They are extremely potent against infantry and light vehicles alike. Chronometron - The bearer of this arcane device exists slightly outside the flow of time, allowing him to glimpse possible futures and modify his recent actions accordingly. A Cryptek utilising a Chronometron appears blurred, its movements sudden and spasmodic like a primitive pict-reel or degraded hololith. Gaze of Flame - Some Plasmancers choose to implant hidden weaponry within their own bodies. Many Necrons find this practice unsavoury, at best. Few, however, would question a Harbinger of Destruction to his face, particularly when that face may conceal all manner of terrifying weaponry. When in battle, the eyes of a Cryptek who has granted himself the Gaze of Flame burn with an unnatural, ghostly fire, stealing away both an assailant's speed and inducing great fear of the Cryptek. Many a Necron Overlord would dearly like to see Orikan punished for this quiet insolence. However, not only is such a course of action impolitic -- the benefits of being able to call upon Orikan's skills greatly outweigh any offence caused by his manner -- it is also almost entirely impossible. Orikan knows the plans of his rivals and enemies long before they do, and it is child's play for him to exploit such schemes to his personal advantage -- an alteration that, more often than not, involves a fatal outcome for the original plotter. Such a weapon has near-infinite range, and is able to penetrate almost any form of armour, including that of Titans. The only disadvantage to this astounding item is that its strange ammunition supply is exhausted with a single shot, and is far too complex to be reloaded in the midst of combat.

You’ve got your hands on some core characters and troops, now where do you go? Necrons have a number of different angles to play and some of them are quite competitive. Let’s discuss a couple possible options among many that are available and how you might branch into them. A Focussed Death Ray is a ferocious armament that can be mounted as the primary weapon on a Sentry Pylon. The coruscating beams of force emitted by the Focussed Death Ray are able to slice through entire ranks of enemy soldiers and whole columns of armoured battle-tanks with contemptuous ease. Acanthrite • Doomstalker • Plasmacyte ( Reanimator • Accelerator) • Reanimator • Scarab • Seraptek • Spyder • Tomb Sentinel • Tomb Stalker • Wraith

The Book

A Cryptek is one of the technologists and engineers of the Necron species, and they are responsible for studying and maintaining the technology of the Necron dynasties. A Cryptek's powers mirror that of the psykers found amongst the other intelligent species of the galaxy. Orikan was the only one to then oppose the proposal of the C'tan Mephet'ran the Deceiver to grant the Necrontyr immortality through the process of biotransference, as he foresaw it would end in disaster, but his lone voice of dissent was ignored by the Triarch. Driven by loyalty to his race, Orikan submitted to the process and became one of the undying Necrons, forever undying and soulless in an android body of living metal.
