About this deal

Tanqueray No. Ten was created with this heritage in mind and set the standard as one of the very first ultra-premium gins It is best enjoyed with premium tonic water, ice and a wedge of pink grapefruit or with dry vermouth and a twist of pink grapefruit in a martini Pour in gin and juice of half a lime into the bowl and let the mixture infuse in the fridge for 30 minutes. Tanqueray No. TEN is the only gin to be inducted to the San Francisco World Spirits Competition Hall of Fame Tanqueray No. TEN is an exceptional taste experience with the aroma of citrus fruits and juniper and the flavour of citrus fruits and chamomile flowers.

When summer heat creeps in, the antidote is an ultra-refreshing cooler. This drink takes advantage of the gin’s herbal side, freshening it up with some cucumber. The infusion takes a little time but you’ll be very pleased with the results. You can experiment a bit with your herb selection, perhaps adding a bit of dried lavender, rosemary, and/or thyme. It’s in the midpalate where the more rooty elements in the gin emerge with angelica root and licorice, and we really get a sense of the level of alcohol. It’s really the midpalate of Tanqueray London Dry Gin which makes it one of the best gins you can use in a gin and tonic. The structure that’s created between the spice and the spirit is unparalleled in the gin space, with flavor that is nothing short of perfection. Like the nose, the midpalate of Tanqueray has each and every botanical accounted for. Surprisingly, there’s also a sense of underlining sweetness in the midpalate. It’s subtle, but it’s there, and it emanates not only from the base grain spirit, but also from the licorice root.Tanqueray No. TEN Gin is distilled four times with Tanqueray's standard gin botanicals of juniper, coriander, angelica and liquorice Compliment Tanqueray No. TEN and tonic with a pink grapefruit wedge to enhance its bright and complex citrus flavour.

Whole citrus fruits, limes, oranges and pink grapefruit are added with chamomile flowers to Tiny Ten A lot has been said about Tanqueray No. TEN gin since it took the drinks market by storm in 2000. Some believe it’s named after the number of botanicals in its secret recipe. Others contend that it’s an ode to the metric system, or a perfect rating (this option is persuasive). The “ten,” however, is actually owed to the mighty little piece of machinery that produced the first batch of this iconic gin. While the juniper, coriander, angelica and liquorice come from the same sources as those used in standard Tanqueray production, their proportions differ and many will be surprised to learn that there is a greater proportion of juniper in Tanqueray Ten than Tanqueray Special Dry. Another important aspect of Tanqueray No. Ten's distillation is the low percentage of spirit retained as 'the cut' for the finished product. Typically (for example, with Special Dry) 90% of the total spirit is captured as the cut, implying that around 10% is discarded as 'heads' (the first spirit to run off the still) and 'tails' (the last spirit to run off the still). In contrast, during distillation of Tanqueray No. Ten, only around 60% of the spirit makes the cut: approximately 40% is discarded.

Tanqueray No. TEN Gin is distilled four times with Tanqueray's standard gin botanicals of refreshing juniper, peppery coriander, aromatic angelica and sweet liquorice. Whole citrus fruits, including limes, oranges and pink grapefruit are then added with chamomile flowers to Tiny Ten, the still from which the liquid gets its name. It is best enjoyed with premium tonic water, plenty of ice and a wedge of pink grapefruit or with dry vermouth and a twist of pink grapefruit in a perfect martini. It was named “Ten” because it was developed on the experimental still named “Tiny Ten.” Tanqueray No. 10 gin features only eight botanicals (not ten!). It adds four new ones to the Tanqueray formula. Juniper, coriander, licorice and angelica root remain.. It adds chamomile flowers and three kinds of fresh, whole citrus. Tiny Ten is used for the first distillation of Tanqueray No. Ten, which produces the citrus spirit known as the 'citrus heart' of No. Ten. Wheat grain neutral spirit is distilled with fresh hand chopped Florida oranges, Mexican limes and grapefruits to produce this essence. This use of fresh fruit rather than dried peels is most unusual and is thought to contribute Tanqueray No. Ten's fresh citrus led style. This gin may not have been possible in 1830 when Charles Tanqueray first developed the recipe for his gin. Fresh citrus, especially in the reliable quantities to make a gin like this would have either been quite expensive or just simply not available in 19th century London on a predictable basis. If you’ve been in almost any premium bar, you’ll of most likely seen a bottle of Tanqueray No.10 glistening in its glorious green bottle, sat on the bar shelves. This multi-award winning citrus based gin has been welcomed by the vast majority of gin lovers due to its depth of a fresh, clean flavour and sets the bar at what a premium gin should be. Tanqueray No.10 Gin Tasting Notes Overall, Tanqueray Ten endures not because of the reputation, of the brand that preceded it. It endures because it’s a nearly perfectly made gin.

Good to know

Tanqueray No. TEN Gin has won multiple awards including accolades from the San Francisco Spirits Competition 2020, where it won Double Gold in the gin category. Expertly made, Tanqueray’s top shelf gin reads as slightly more classic twenty years later than when it launched. Classic gin fans will love the way the juniper is elevated by citrus. Contemporary gin fans will appreciate the way citrus stars without be coming one note.
