About this deal

OK. So sometimes I do feel a bit tense. Kind of pressured. But I’m a lawyer in the City, for God’s sake. What do you expect? I’ve read your answers carefully,’ Maya gives me a thoughtful look, ‘and you’re obviously quite a stressed-out woman.’ The next day when she wakes up, she is the housekeeper of a beautiful big mansion in rural England and has no clue how to go about her new job. (I have not mentioned any spoiler; all this is already mentioned in the blurb). How would you have responded to the questions that introduce Chapter One? Have you ever been accused of being addicted to stress? What’s the difference between having a busy life and being a workaholic? She is someone who will appeal to all contemporary women – some will choose to agree with her while some may strongly detest her but I think all will agree that her character is quite relatable to contemporary working women.

I enjoyed this book which is a light-hearted read. I am a fan of Sophie Kinsella's previous shopaholic series and was worried that she wouldn't be able to match the readability in this, however I was not disappointed. Samantha wistfully adores "The Waltons." Why is her family so different from the one depicted in that show? What does the ideal family look like in the twenty-first century? In 2014 she published a Young Adult novel Finding Audrey about a teenage girl with social anxiety and her madcap family, and in January 2018, Sophie published her first illustrated book for young readers about the charming adventures of a mother-daughter fairy duo, Mummy Fairy and Me (also published as Fairy Mom and Me). The Undomestic Goddess," written by Sophie Kinsella, is a delightful and engaging contemporary fiction novel that takes readers on a transformative journey. With a perfect blend of humor, romance, and personal growth, Kinsella invites us into the life of Samantha Sweeting, a high-powered lawyer whose world suddenly turns upside down.Meet Sankalpita, the bookworm extraordinaire! 📚 With an insatiable appetite for reading (over 100 books annually!), she embarked on her book blogging journey in 2013 to share her boundless love for books. What started as a quirky hobby has blossomed into India's top-tier book blog, bookGeeks – the reigning champion for five consecutive years! 🏆 I also loved the character of Nathaniel. If I have to describe him in one word, it will be – Sexy. He is just irresistible. The characters of Trish and Guy are again noteworthy bringing in the necessary drama. To be more accurate, it’s last year’s birthday treat. Aunt Patsy gave me the gift voucher for an ‘Ultimate De-stress Experience’ just over a year ago. She’s my mother’s sister and has major worries about women with careers. Every time I see her she grasps my shoulders and peers at my face with an anxious frown, and in the card that came with the voucher she wrote ‘Make Some Time For Yourself, Samantha!!!’

What accounts for the different lives led by Samantha and her childhood friend, Freya? What fun and essential roles does Freya play in Samantha’s life? Samantha is a high-powered lawyer in London. She works all hours, has no home life, and cares only about getting a partnership. She thrives on the pressure and adrenalin. Until one day...she makes a mistake. The story is told in the first-person voice of Samantha Sweeting. There are no dull moments and a good pace is maintained throughout the book. The characterisation is, well, extreme. No one ever does anything by halves and sometimes they undergo a complete personality change. An avuncular and friendly man turns out to be a villain. The nouveau-riche employers of the housekeeper turn out to have hearts of gold and feather brains. The gardener has hidden depths and an obliging mother. The lawyers get lawyers a bad name.In the mess that ensues, she finds herself hastily leaving her office and getting aboard the first train that she spots. Well.’ Maya gets up. She presses a button set in the wall and gentle pan-pipe music fills the air. ‘All I can say is, you’ve come to the right place, Samantha. Our aim here is to de-stress, revitalize and detoxify.’ Her ultimate goal? "To serve a nation through literature." 🇮🇳 With a passion for Indian literature, she's on a mission to ignite the reading spark in both kids and grown-ups alike. 🔥 Apart from my brother Peter, of course. He had a nervous breakdown. But the rest of us. I love my job. I love the satisfaction of spotting the loophole in a contract. I love the adrenaline rush of closing a deal. I love the thrill of negotiation, and arguing, and making the best point in the room.
