All the hardware is nicely fitted with no wobble or play. The guard is pretty minimal so thrusting maneuvers might be a little dangerous if your grip slips on the handle. A shinai should not be confused with a bokutō, which has a much more similar shape and length to a Japanese sword and is made from a single piece of wood. I haven’t taken the handle off yet but have heard that they drilled through the handle and tang at same time (not great) leaving metal flash and creating almost a rivet effect making it difficult to remove the handle for replacing.
