About this deal

Ed. note: Elvis Presley released Teddy Bear perfume in 1957, and Sophia Loren did have a fragrance called Sophia that launched under Coty in 1980 or 1981. Elizabeth Taylor Passion, however, is widely considered to be the first fragrance from a "big" celebrity, and the scent that started the trend of celebrity fragrances. Think Avon or the drugstore Coty scents - hundreds of them, cheaply and mass produced, all nice, for the most part, but none of them outstanding. Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.

Passion Elizabeth Taylor perfume - a fragrance for women 1988

On my skin the perfume feels more like a floral chypre rather than oriental. The flowers are blended so that not one stands out, apart from maybe the creamy tuberose but mostly gardenia. The incense comes and goes, making the florals smoky and with the honey it gives of a beeswax sweetness. The heliotrope with its powdery beauty is highly present on my skin, making the whole feel decadent, narcotic. The drydown is predominantly strong oakmoss with a hint of vetiver and patchouli, and the sandalwood feels very creamy and buttery. Mysore? Why not? Well, if this was going nose to nose with the fashion powers that be in the 80s, then it’s no wonder that those major scents of the past – like Fendi – were something the downmarket was trying to emulate in Passion. It is interesting to read that it was the FiFi winner the same year as Fendi! That’s right. In 1987, Elizabeth Taylor was the first big name, besides a couturier, to brand a perfume. And she went big. Unlike some celebrities who curiously say, “I don’t really like perfume, but I like this one” about their eponymous “clean smelling” scents, Taylor put together a glamorous whopper of a perfume. 1least 5% of Australian Pharmacy Transactions~ have occurred for that product within the previous 2 months; or if at least 5% of Australian Pharmacy Elizabeth Taylor stars as Cleopatra, the cunning queen of Egypt who seduces the rulers of Rome. She rolls out of a rug and onto the floor wearing a chiffon dress of the roman uniform: red and white. Here she is making her own political power to Caesar. Cleopatra struggles to find balance between "politics and passion" head and heart in a man's world, a struggle that transfers into her clothing & scent. She uses her clothes as armour. Her scent also her emotional giveaway, indicating her mood and deaires. She wears a powdery, smoky, animalic, harsh, stunning, complex, intriguing, intoxicating and incredibly sexy scent during romantic or passionate interactions.

It really smelled grand at the time. And expensive too. White Diamonds was that way too. It made me swoon with its grandeur. If you enjoy drama powerhouses and are ok with just a bit too much animalics, this is for you. Highly unisex today, this belongs in all vintage collections, especially chypre lovers and anyone who enjoys the golden decade, baroque scents and a good perfume in general. This is sexy, yes, but also cozy and warm in it's own way.Jan Moran in Fabulous Fragrances quotes Taylor as saying about Passion, “It has a scent of mystery, slightly effusive, kind of smoky and sweet.” As to why she named the fragrance Passion, Taylor said, “I think it’s passion that’s made me a survivor. If you care about other people, it becomes a passion…I have a passion for life and loving.” If I apply a dab or two to wrists it envelops with a complicated, rather sweet mix of floral with spice as well as musky undertones....a teeny bit like an explosion in a perfume factory, mayhaps. Heart notes: Orris root, spicy accords, patchouli, rose, sandalwood, cedar, tuberose, heliotrope, honey and jasmine. I'm surprised it's not considered to be unisex, surprised it's not in the animalic, leather group before anything. Love this potent, animal sex musk, this leathery, raunchy,sex- musk. It's no wonder its called ''Passion''.

Passion - Elizabeth Taylor - CLONE-FRAGRANCE Passion - Elizabeth Taylor - CLONE-FRAGRANCE

BTW: I am speaking of the reformulated version. I also wore and loved the much richer vintage. To this day, this is the only ET perfume I cared about. The men's version, while equally wonderful in a completely different way, is also a love, but, alas, only on a man. My skin does it no justice whatsoever. Amazing sillage and longevity, easily fills a room making the wearer the center of attention, something that I personally love. Smelling it blind I would never have thought of it as a celebrity or drugstore fragrance; instead it is in the same quality ballpark as any designer scent from the decade. honey, tuberose, sandalwood, patchouli, orris root, jasmine, heliotrope, cedar, rose and spicy notes

Although today’s Passion is probably only a weak reflection of the perfume it used to be, it does intrigue me, and I’ll be on the watch for an old bottle to see if I can hear more of its orchestra (to mix in another metaphor). Passion must have been complex and grand at one time, like Elizabeth Taylor herself, and I want to experience it. One thing is sure: I won’t find it at the drugstore any time soon. Passion’s notes include gardenia, jasmine, rose, ylang ylang, lily of the valley, amber musk, patchouli, sandalwood, cedarwood, incense, and moss. In 1988, the fragrance won a FiFi as the Women’s Fragrance of the Year, Nouveau Niche ( Fendi won Fragrance of the Year, Luxe). Its disgusting and I think I like it....its sexy, dirty, animal musk. Perfect for sexual fantasies, animal desires, men, leather, sex. It's absolutely perfect for layering with flower notes. I don't sense more than the incense, the sandalwood, the musk, the leather. This could very well be a male fragrance, for certain. Don't overspray, be careful, I can still smell it after a cold bath, it's strong stuff. Just bought it, seems like it will be a perfect, bold note and breath of passion. It has all marks of a great, bold perfume, the civet, the incense, the leather, the musk, the white flowers, the spices and green notes. I'm surprised men do not buy this more. Besides Kuoros not many perfumes have three sexy notes as leather, civet and musk together.
