Although this is set in the past, this book felt quite contemporary to me. It’s honest and believable. There is pain, love and hardship, life laid bare, it’s a real rip roaring piece of historical crime fiction.Diamond by Jessie Keane was another superb historical crime fiction book and one of her best. This latest book had me gripped from the beginning till the end. I loved it. However, it is slightly different from all her other books but still an excellent read.
