Davis played trumpet sublime with his ensemble sextet featuring pianist Bill Evans, drummer Jimmy Cobb, bassist Paul Chambers, and saxophonists John Coltrane and Julian “Cannonball” Adderley with Wyton Kelly playing piano on “Freddy the Freeloader.” And wow! There's so much life and air in this recording, the piano especially sounds beautiful in a way that I've never heard before.

Included in the many highlights of Analogue Productions' history are the Fantasy 45 Jazz Reissues, the Blue Note Reissues, and premium box sets of the music of such legendary acts as The Doors, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Nat "King" Cole and Norah Jones. This is the first UHQR (or any record of that type) that I’ve bitten on and for me it’s clearly obsession. I have the Classic 33 and the MoFi so I’m interested to hear how this one compares. a b "American album certifications – Miles Davis – Kind of Blue". Recording Industry Association of America. The transfer was made to digital (DSD) where it could be tweaked and used an infinite number of times to cut vinyl. From a purist standpoint, this is cheating" Since its release on August 17, 1959, [34] Kind of Blue has been regarded by critics as Davis's greatest work. It is his most acclaimed album, and became, along with Davis's 1970 album Bitches Brew, his best-selling record, cementing him as one of the most successful jazz artists in history. [35] [36] [37] [38] [39] Music writer Chris Morris cited Kind of Blue as "the distillation of Davis's art." [40] Cobb said the album "must have been made in heaven". [41] No chords ... gives you a lot more freedom and space to hear things. When you go this way, you can go on forever. You don't have to worry about changes and you can do more with the [melody] line. It becomes a challenge to see how melodically innovative you can be. When you're based on chords, you know at the end of 32 bars that the chords have run out and there's nothing to do but repeat what you've just done—with variations. I think a movement in jazz is beginning away from the conventional string of chords ... there will be fewer chords but infinite possibilities as to what to do with them. Miles DAVIS - Kind Of Blue Vinyl at Juno Records.

The music is absolutely next level, so it's important to spend as little time as possible thinking about your pressing/copy, and wrap your brain around this monumental session.

When we're setting up antiskate, we assume we know how hard the vinyl is pulling on the diamond. And it's probably a very reasonable assumption. Using a blank record is an attempt to get around that assumption, but it does not properly account for the diamond geometry.

My answer is : hardly ever ! Why ? There is a lot of money to be earned on "better then ever "versions of it ! I already have more than a few pressings of Kind of Blue, accumulated since I bought my first copy 57 years ago, so I'm just not sure I need another. The real question is: has the music changed? I hope the answer is "no." It's music that's still interesting, important, and historic. And no matter which version I listen to it's the music that draws me in. Of course, it's great to hear a pressing that's sonically wonderful; it certainly enhances the experience. But I'm leaning to pass on this release and find LPs that feature music and performances that I don't know quite as well--or at all.The biggest things that led me to feel this way is how much you hear the room, and how much separation there is for each instrument.
