About this deal

Láhev se snaží být efektní a reprezentativní, ale při pohledu na ni víte, že je to jen předstírání. Zlatohnědá barva s mírnou hloubkou, ve sklenici základní rum. Ovocná sladká vůně s banánem a meruňkou, květinovými tóny a vanilkou. Velmi sladké a husté v ústech s trochou alkoholu na začátku, karamelem a melasou. Potom následuje několik tónů sudu a kůže, které přetrvávají v dřevitém a suchém závěru. Skromná dochuť se dřevem, rzí a kovem. Tento rum není špatný, ale chybí mu komplexnost…“ Na Heurece většinou jen stručné ale mimořádně pozitivní recenze: Takto rumy z Barbadosu (a dalších karibských zemí), které tam několik let zrají v sudech po bourbonu směřují do Francie a kde pokračují ve zrání v dubových sudech po koňaku Pierre Ferrand XO Grande Champagne. V současnosti společnost vlastní i známou barbadoskou destilérku West Indies Rum Distillery, kde se kromě rumů Plantation rodí i Bumbu, či Dos Maderas rum. I don’t mind the existence of sweetened rum but the brands should just be vocal about their products being sweetened as there are labeling issues that prevent “no sugar” or “sweetened” being put on the label. That’s the point there. Nobody is stopping them from making what they want. But they want to use the Barbados rum name to make some of their rum more prestigious. They can still sell their product as rum but not as Barbados rum.

Tropical ageing : 8 -15 years. The rums are chosen for their struture with aromatic characteristics suited for intensive oak ageing. Barbancourt is more of an enigma to me. It used to enjoy being the only Haitian rum in the market. But after Luca Gargano started bottling and selling Clairin from various producers, Clairin started taking the spotlight.
