About this deal

Loot a Simple Velium Pendant from the slain kodiak. Only one pendant will drop and will update the whole group. This is a phonics resource linked to the story. We’ve taken a few extracts that compliment the different phases in phonics to help your class depending on the phonics phase they are currently at.

Although I actually quite liked some lines and quotes, most of which were really personal to Peppernell herself, I found that overall this collection didn't touch me the way I wanted it to. In some ways it felt a little surface level to me personally, especially since it's about themes we've probably all experienced during the pandemic times and thus were topics the author could've gone more "in depth" with. I think it has to do with the writing style, or maybe it's just to do with the fact that I'm a reader who's very inexperienced when it comes to prose and poetry (collections). There are different levels of difficulty so children can use prompts to help them. E.g. extra spacing and underlined capitals. I think the biggest problem with this collection were my inappropriate expectations. While I wanted to read something like The Space Between Us, my favourite Courtney's work to date, this reminded me more of I Hope You Stay and Watering The Soul, both of which I didn't enjoy that much. It's written in extremely similar writing style, and now it's becoming quite obvious that it just doesn't work for me. I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers. A range of questions have been asked linked to retrieval and basic inference. The resource has been differentiated 4 ways to cater for Year 1 to Year 2 children.Courtney Peppernell is a bestselling author from Sydney, Australia, best known for her Pillow Thoughts poetry collection. The series has achieved acclaimed success worldwide, with more than a million copies sold since the initial launch in 2017. Missionary Ada says, 'Well, my mother may be lost somewhere out there. She came to bring me lunch at my post on the very same day that they closed the gates to Thurgadin. She should have stayed home, but she is old and forgetful. Maybe she didn't remember that the gates were closing, maybe she thought she would have plenty of time. I don't blame her, I blame the guards at the gate. They never should have let her leave!? Ada's anger is only enhanced as tears start to pool in her eyes. 'I volunteered to stay out here, she did not. Now I don't know if she made it home or not and I can't find her without [help].'

I think I've read pretty much every poetry collection by Courtney Peppernell at this point. And this one was a bit of a miss. It was beautifully written but didn't quite evoke emotions out of me. The best part for me was called "Find love", that was gorgeous. But for the rest of the poems, they didn't hit me emotionally unfortunately. Set in the Southern area of the United States of America, this is a slower movie with a lot of wisdom in it. The director has wisely chosen to portrait the friendship between a White Caucasian male and an Afro-American male. Both of them have to take care of their elders in a loving, inspiring psychological drama. Your class must identify where the capital letters and full stops must go in the sentences/passages.Before you start reading look at the cover together and talk about what the story might be about. As you read the story aloud pauseif your child wants to look at the pictures and talk about what is happening. Talk about the story Your KS1 class can even cut out the sentences and arrange and rearrange accordingly. If you have numerous copies of the book they can cross reference using the book as and determine their accuracy for self assessment and reflection. The book was adapted into a play. Watch this promotional video and look at some of the props / costumes that were made for it. Could you make your own props and costumes and perform the story yourself? Thanks a lot, the planning and resources look great. Is there any way I could be sent the flip charts as a pdf? We have a different software unfortunately. Can you find out the distance from the Earth to the Moon? How long would the rope need to stretch that far?

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley. The boy's head ismore or less circular with a long nose like a stretched out 'J' and two small eyes a little like full stops. Here is a real 'J' with full stops either sideso that you can see what I mean→. ȷ . This 2-week unit covers both writing and reading skills and is complete with a detailed PowerPoint and resources, as well as a marking ladder to assess children’s independent writing against the End of KS1 TAF. If you look carefully at the alien, you will see that, apart from being green, he is very similar to the boy, which just goes to show how much we all have in common. Again, you can think of simple shapes to help you:Missionary Ada says, 'Thank you so much. I was posted at our camp in the north east near the ocean that day. You should start looking there. Head toward Thurgadin in as straight of a path as you can manage. My mom is old, but she still has a keen sense of direction.'

I need to stop judging books by their covers; it rarely works out for me. What a cover though, right? Unfortunately, the poetry did not live up to the cover for me.We have also included a blank resource so that your Year 1 / Year 2 children can choose their own words using the sounds they are familiar with. Children could write an imaginary letter from the boy to the Martian aboutwhathe hasbeen doing on Earth. Make a mobile Write a sequel to the book in which the boy and the alien meet again. What might they do? Where might they go together? When a dark storm settled upon the earth, you lost many things—your hope, your strength, yourself. One day, in the middle of the darkness, you meet a spirit, washed from the ocean onto the shore. The spirit hands you a key.
