It makes me wonder if similar to how CO used to make all the classic figures that were sold under the UT name perhaps this is the same thing with CO making the sonics but S20 just using their own branding to sell it in the US? The War Doctor also used a modified version of this sonic during the Time War, but had swapped the emitter head for a more simple light-up one. the war doctor TARDIS connections I would say this seems very unlikely but given the past links between CO/UT and the fact that UT has now become S20…it doesn’t seem THAT far fetched I doubt CO have anything to do with it, there have always been problems with regional licensing with all manufactures looks vastly more detailed… CO need to up there game cos this might just get irritating if it continues like thisThe Doctor, throughout many of their lives, possessed a sonic screwdriver. They originally used a basic model in their first ( PROSE: Venusian Lullaby) and second incarnations, ( TV: Fury from the Deep) before upgrading in their third. ( TV: The Sea Devils) However, according to one account, the First Doctor was unfamiliar with the sonic screwdriver when he met the Twelfth Doctor. ( TV: Twice Upon a Time) Similarly the accounts depicting the Doctor's life as the Timeless Child prior to their first incarnation showed at least one of them as being unfamiliar with the sonic screwdriver and dismissive of it. ( TV: Fugitive of the Judoon) The Doctor continued to use the model introduced during his third incarnation until it was destroyed in their fifth by a Terileptil leader. ( TV: The Visitation) It wasn't until they were in their seventh incarnation before they began to use a screwdriver again, taking on various different models throughout the years. ( TV: Doctor Who, Rose, The Eleventh Hour, Hell Bent, The Woman Who Fell to Earth)

It shows there are loads of screw holes on the other side of this version of the sonic as well. I guess Seven20 just chose not to show them in the promo shots unlike CO. I’m surprised and kind of annoyed though that their sonic appears to be far superior to Character’s.After crash-landing in Sheffield with no TARDIS, a body that was still cooking, and two alien mysteries to solve, the Doctor realised she was missing something – her sonic screwdriver. As there was no TARDIS around to fire out a replacement, she had to take matters into her own hands. the thirteenth doctor forges her own sonic screwdriver using sheffield steel and an alien crystal in the woman who fell to earth This sonic screwdriver would later be inherited by The Fourteenth Doctor, who would make use of it during the 1966 Dalek invasion of Earth.

While it was different individual model, for all intents and purposes the War Doctor's sonic was the same as the Eleventh Doctor's some 400 years later. ( TV: The Day of the Doctor) However, the Thirteenth Doctor, having lost the Twelfth Doctor's sonic screwdriver, created her own version.
