Other titles include Sony's disappointing raunchy comedy Rough Night, a 4K edition of the great horror-deconstruction ... that it almost breaks the illusion of scale. If the cityscape were any clearer, you'd see that it was

The 4K Blade Runner is wonderfully vivid. Fittingly enough, a shot of the THX sign towards the end of the film looks electric blue in 4K and is relatively dull and faded in HD. Blade Runner, alongside John Carpenter's The Thing, was a box office and critical bomb when it hit movie theaters a scant two weeks after the phenom that was E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. It was a movie that few people saw in theaters during its initial run and even fewer thought much about it afterward. Thankfully, home video switched that around. When Warner Brothers released what was to be dubbed the "Director's Cut," folks all of a sudden started giving this film another look and reassessing its position in the science-fiction genre. It's because of this Director's Cut release on VHS that I learned what Blade Runner even was, let alone come to appreciate it as one of my favorite films. For me, Blade Runner 2049 is a titanic achievement. It's the sequel I never wanted but am overjoyed to have. Villeneuve and his creative partners nailed it. Coming out of Sicario I was excited to see what Villeneuve could do with Arrival as the original short story was so short but heady. Coming out of Arrival I knew he was going to do something interesting with Blade Runner 2049. After this film, I know Dune is in capable hands. That said, I don't need another Blade Runner. Sure there is a lot left to explore, but it doesn't need to be. Two films are enough for this little franchise of science fiction masterpieces.Public Domain street photography of vehicles traveling on road between large buildings during nighttime Blade Runner 4K Blu-ray truly is a masterpiece with perfect scores all around making it one of the best Blu-ray's ever Here’s a deep cut that even the most ardent "Blade Runner" fan may not be aware of. Before "Blade Runner 2049" hit cinemas, three short prequel films were made to promote its release, each taking place during a different year and plugging the gaps in what happened in the intervening years since the original’s story took place. Some scenes are a few shades lighter though, which in turn reveals more of the lighting, shading and detail in a scene. The lighting throughout is fantastic, with light sources seemingly improved. It's not that they're brighter, but more distinct. The hues get a better showcase on the 4K, such as the fluorescent tinge to the lights in K's kitchen.

Despite their capacity for brutal violence, their childlike innocence and view of the world is perfect for this story. They’re presented as wild animals that need to be put down, yet by getting to know them just a little, you soon want them to survive. Blade Runner is on UK 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray as a standalone 4K release and as part of the Warner Bros. 100th Anniversary Studio Collection from 16th October 2023. I bought this and scarface not knowing what to expect,I collect blade runner as it’s my favourite film and wow I’m impressed, great art, great looking box, love the numbered plaque.

shelf room for this impressive new series being distributed by The Film Vault. What's perhaps also going to be exciting for physical media buffs is that While this is being marketed to the UK, those in Region A will be pleased to know the 1080 disc played fine in my Region A player.

Blade Runner stands alongside Alien as one of Ridley Scott’s best films, and this 4K Blu-ray release is a fitting representation of his vision. The journey of discovery, for both K and the audience, examines tropes science-fiction has been digging at since its inception. What does it mean to be human? What defines humanity? The original film touched upon these themes, but they are given more weight in 2049, which makes for a more engaging story. Blade Runner (The Final Cut features the same array of audio options that Warner Brothers' release did, including the, um, Enter our competition to win a copy of WARNER BROS. 100th ANNIVERSARY 30-FILM STUDIO COLLECTION on 4K UHDBlade Runner 2049 captures that otherworldly sense of Blade Runner and in some respects it's better, if more straightforward than Ridley Scott's original. Multiple viewings allow you to soak up the film's details and 4K Blu-ray is the best avenue for that. with film facts, and a reproduction "Spinner" vehicle design blueprint, with the cards and blueprint enclosed in another branded envelope. It's not too long or anything, I wouldn't cut any scenes, but there are certain stretches where one can feel the length. Ridley Scott himself has recently come out and said that part of the reason why this film didn't connect at the box office was probably due to its length. Again, I'd say that it is a tad long, but that has more to do with pace rather than length. Some scenes could have been trimmed, but not eliminated. To be honest, I'm glad that Scott didn't direct this sequel. After the middling Prometheus and the messy Alien Covenant, I don't think he would have had the patience to let this film and its ideas breathe in a satisfying way. Scott's films of late feel like they suffer from Intellectual ADD, one interesting idea pops up without being fully explored before jumping to another interesting idea before being dropped altogether and outright forgotten. prescient in any number of ways, and in fact presages the recently departed HBO series Westworld in its dissection of artificial intelligence and what " Being Human" (if I may be permitted to pun by using a
