If I was to be super specific, I’d probably give this book a 3.25 stars. I wanted to love it SO BADLY because I was taking it with me as my read on my trip to Italy, but ultimately, the amount of things I liked and disliked were about the same.

Since I didn’t want this to end… I would HIGHLY recommend this fantastic book, if you’re looking for a new, fun, modern, romcom, or like me you’re in a constant state of wanderlust. I’d suggest throwing on your favorite Italian music, and pouring yourself a glass of Prosecco, maybe a delicious charcuterie board, because you deserve it. 😉 It almost felt like I was enjoying the hot, sunny streets, of Rome, while reading this. I really liked Violet and Matt’s chemistry and flow of the story was great, however, the ending left me wanting more But when a coffee run goes wrong and Violet accidentally destroys a stranger’s laptop, all of the apology Americanos in the world won’t help her. Because it turns out that the man from the café is Matteo, her professor’s eternally grumpy son, who thinks she’s a clumsy American…and maybe a stalker. Their animosity (and undeniable chemistry) grows as together they’re forced to face a summer of chic parties, adventures through Rome and sharing a home…with the person they can’t stand the most. This being a romance, the story relies heavily on the connection and chemistry of the two characters. I didn’t feel Violet and Matt had either. We were told there was tension from their first meeting (the oft used girl clumsily smashes into boy meet cute), but I never got that. I did like the friendship between Violet and Marco, and others she met along the way.Overall, I cannot resist the charm of one of the most spectacular cities in the world. This extremely swoon-worthy, engaging, inspirational romcom is absolutely one of my favorite works by Kate Bromley!
