All of which was promised alongside paying loving homage to John Carpenter’s original and providing fans with what they REALLY wanted – a good, old fashioned slasher movie, with a body count and bloodletting to match. And like the previous 4K releases of Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills, this disc presents a decent if not quite outstanding image. Where Halloween (2018) and Halloween Kills took place on the same night, Halloween Ends leaps forward four years. Michael Myers hasn't been seen since the violent events of that fateful night, and Laurie is trying her best to move on. If ever an opening credits font could serve as a warning shot, the use of the Halloween III: Season of the Witch font was it. This is a very different Halloween film from the two that came before. It’s more cerebral (or at least it thinks it is), and much more character focused than previous entries. But the character that gets the most care and attention, Corey, was introduced far too late in this franchise sub-trilogy. I felt Rohan Campbell delivered one hell of a performance here. When we first meet him, he’s likable and funny, and you feel for him when his life goes so bad. But he needed to have been introduced in Halloween (2018)- not two movies later. Most of his transformation would have been a great way to spend Halloween Kills instead of waiting for the next obnoxious chant of “ EVIL DIES TONIGHT.” As has been the case with each film there’s a decent assortment of bonus features attached. The audio commentary is the most interesting and informative of the lot, the deleted scenes aren’t all that interesting except for an extended piece where Corey finds where Michael has been storing some dead bodies for the last few years. The featurettes are pretty basic simple and brief looks at various aspects of the film. The Blu-ray disc has the same bonus features but obviously in 1080p and not UHD. However, Shane isn't just a movie guy. He also loves video games. Super Mario Sunshine, The Last of Us Part 1 and 2, and Batman: Arkham City are some of his favorites. Music plays a big part in his life as well. Given that Shane's a big horror fan, you might be surprised to learn that he's a pop guy. Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Dua Lipa, The Jonas Brothers, and Demi Lovato play on repeat while he's writing.Subtitles are English SDH, Spanish, Mandarin, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian and Swedish. If your biggest Halloween Kills complaint was that it was just a series of killings in place of a plot, then Halloween Ends is the reverse of that. For the final outing, David Gordon Green has slowed things down for a different kind of Halloween movie, but it only really leads to other problems. Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham, is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all. Evil dies tonight," the residents of Haddonfield bellowed in Halloween Kills, but we always knew that wouldn't be the case. Halloween Ends was confirmed at the same time as the sequel and this time, we've been promised that it really is the end. Honest. The Visions of Terror –See how various production departments came together to achieve the film’s unique visual style. Halloween Ends is also a do-over of everything that was done poorly in Halloween Kills. How the tragedies of the 1978 and 2018 films affect a community is given a more somber, less hostile exploration. There are no more chants of “Evil dies tonight!” Now we have a town crippled by its past, even to the point that people occasionally commit suicide. While Halloween Kills was the extreme, over-the-top reaction to Michael Myers, Halloween Ends is the more introspective version of the same story, canvassing a town that remains broken and haunted by the shadow of death that still looms large over them. Laurie Strode in particular wants to move on from these hardships, but the people of the town won’t let her forget, even chastising her in public for the simple act of smiling, as if she has a right to do so. In a way, her and Corey are linked thematically, but in Laurie’s case, she wants the town’s wounds to heal. Corey wants to make new ones.unlikely ally in Laurie Strode's (Jamie Lee Curtis) granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak). As the bodies mount, Haddonfield finds itself once again in To be fair - I didn’t hate Halloween Ends. I do not think this is the worst film of the franchise. I actually thought the character of Corey was a genuinely brilliant addition to the franchise. I thought that Laurie Strode masking her pain by trying to be “tits-out” domestic grandma was a smart avenue for her character as she and Allyson cope with their loss. I loved all of this stuff because it felt real and emotionally raw and was actually a smart path to take for a franchise riddled with stupidity. My problem with Halloween Ends is this was the exact wrong time to pull this particular story card.
