About this deal

This will by my first review as I go through and finally review my collection. The IER-Z1R is one of my favorites and seemed like a great place to get started. Fortunately, it only took about 2 years and some until Sony announced the MDR-Z1R. It was told from several interviews around the net to be under development for 10 years (Magnesium Domes)

IER-Z1R Specifications | Sony UK

Taking the Sony house sound to a more mature and maybe advanced level; because everything is clearer; it’s that detailed 3D no stopping clarity! A more physical and carved-out bass than with the full-size Z1R yet focused like the Z7. The IEM here actually becomes of more finesse yet touchable as well as comprehensible! Here we are met with a more in-your-head soundstage, being a more concentrated and mind-bending elixir. Mr Speakers Ether Flow & Ether C (not C Flow), I will also say which one I like more for each aspects, remember this is only my taste not for everyone. I’ve already tried the IER-Z1R multiple times before I pulled the trigger. Most would already know what I feel about it, but here’s a short refresher.

The consistent sound signature carried out across each driver works as if they were a perfect single driver. I find that the treble plays down on your taste the most, I listen to metal music, so bright treble is often not good for me as my metal recordings are bright and added brightness could be fatiguing, so I like The Z1R.

The IER-Z1R is, like the A8000, an fun earphone for the person who already has everything and wants something unique and special in addition to that. If you are this person and the price is no issue, than get it! If not, wait for a good used A-Rank deal. you can easily get them 50% off, used in like new condition. The Ts-200 enabled me to use them for hours without comfort issues and are the tips that seem to make them sound most unmodified (if that makes sense). Many old metal recordings were not mastered very well, on this occasions the guitar can be harsh and shrilling, but with the Z1R it is smooth, extended and present in the mix The IER-Z1R represents Sony’s history, built on a legacy of class-leading knowledge in the audio realm. Since the company's inception, Sony has been a leading force in audio innovation, and with the IER-Z1R, they’ve taken a bold step forward. Having to own the Sony Z7 before, while it has some flaws, I couldn't wait for another better version of it, the Top of the line from Sony. Why ? Because it is musical and great to enjoy movies with from either the large home system or by an iPad I'll be following people's impressions of them once they hit the open market even though I'll probably buy something else by then as it looks too uncomfortable. It's the problem I have with the z5 despite liking the z5 a lot. And for the price I am considering ciems from 64 and ee that should have the sound signature I'm looking for while also fitting my ears well.
