About this deal

Given this information, it seemed likely that these processors would trade places, depending on the test, but instead the Core i5-13600K performs better in every test. It doesn't win by a wide margin in some tests, but it does win. The Core i5-12600K, for its part, was left in the dust, and the Core i5-13600K even manages to perform slightly better than the 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X in a few tests. (That said, the Core i5 lost to the 16-core/32-thread Ryzen 9 7950X badly in most tests, as you'd expect.) Power aside, AMD and Intel are both in very competitive position right now. Despite coming at the problem of PC performance with two vastly different architectures (who had Intel leading the core count wars on their 2022 bingo card?), the two have arrived... ASUS has developed an extensive VRM setup. With the aid of the substantial heatsinks, it has constructed a huge 16+1-phase 90A power circuit. This involved cooling solution and the VRM setup are more than sufficient to suit the Intel Core i5 13600K without problems.

All of our testing uses DDR5, though we do link to Raptor Lake DDR4 testing and mention multiple times that this can cost around a 4% performance loss, on average. We also reference both DDR4 and DDR5 pricing in all the relevant areas. Similar to the ASUS AORUX Z790 ELITE AX, the MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk also has a 6-layer PCB with 2 ounces of copper, which is enough to put together a high-quality circuit board.

With Ryzen I do. Articles like this pop up fairly often, and I don't like the methodology. I'll go through it. For as long as I can remember, I've had love of all things tech, spurred on, in part, by a love of gaming. I began working on computers owned by immediate family members and relatives when I was around 10 years old. I've always sought to learn as much as possible about anything PC, leading to a well-rounded grasp on all things tech today. In my role at PCMag, I greatly enjoy the opportunity to share what I know. The ROG Maximus Z790 HERO’s VRM design includes 20 individual power stages for delivering the i5-13600K a lot of power. In addition, the heat generated by such an outstanding VRM design (and the associated PWM fan headers and huge aluminum heat sinks) is likely eliminated thanks to the amazing design. When it comes to building the perfect gaming rig, you need a motherboard that will let your Core i5 13600K processor reach its full potential. To make sure you have the best possible setup, we set out to compare and contrast some of the top motherboards on the market. After researching dozens of boards and assessing their specs and features, we were able to narrow down our list to five standout products.

UserBenchmark: Intel Core i5-13600K BX8071513600K

If you’re willing to pay for the best high-end to match the i5-13600K then ASUS is the path to take, building your rig based on this amazing Z790 motherboard. The ROG Strix family from Asus has always been known for delivering the best gaming and productivity performance and connectivity in the market. And this is no exception. Isn't it fun when something arrives and you start off with thinking one thing, and end up coming away with quite a different impression? We know from past experience that the Intel Core i9 processors are fantastic performers, and we are nothing if not obse... It’s also notable that the Core i5-13600K has 24MB of L3 cache, 4MB more than the Core i5-12600K. That’s in addition to 20MB of L2 cache, which is slightly more than double the 9.5MB of L2 cache found on the Core i5-12600K. So this way you'll get more accurate results on how the CPU actually performs., narrowing the bias and other factors involved which could impact the accuracy of these benchmarks. The Core i5-13600K vs Ryzen 7 7700X and Ryzen 5 7600X battle ends in a five-to-three win in Intel's favor, though each of the Ryzen chips has its own distinct advantages and disadvantages in our different categories.

Specifications: Intel. This looks like nothing more than a repeat of CPU Pricing and Value. In other words, just a way to give Intel another win.So I went for DDR5, with "just" a Ryzen 5 7600X for the time being though - and I will eventually upgrade the CPU to possibly one with 3D V-Cache later. In three out of six games I've tested, the Core i5 13600K matches the pace of the Core i9 12900K. In one of those three, it actually outperforms the Core i9 chip. That's Civ 6, which admittedly has become a bit of a cakewalk for the latest generation of processors from Intel and AMD. But it's no less an excellent showing for the far cheaper CPU.
