About this deal

It's wise to think carefully about the size of room or the amount of moisture the dehumidifier is going to be up against. The 12l version would suit a small-medium size room with mild humidity, but if you have a big or very damp-prone house - or you're drying a lot of washing - the 20 or 25l model really does the job well. A good dehumidifier unit should fit seamlessly into your home. Quiet, easy to use and easy to move around your home, Arete® is designed to make your life simpler. Meaco Arete is my best little cellar-dwelling friend. No idea if he’s actually helping anything, but he collects loads of water, and it makes me feel better about the damp situation, so I absolutely love him."(Recommended by Mumsnetter cimena) The only quieter dehumidifiers I've come across are Peltier models, like the Pro Breeze 1500ml Mini Dehumidifier. However, Peltier dehumidifiers are far less powerful than compressor dehumidifiers. For comparison, as I discovered in my Pro Breeze 1500ml Mini Dehumidifier review, this Peltier model can only extract 0.5L of moisture from the air per day, compared to the MeacoDry Arete One range which can extract 10, 12, 20, or 25L of moisture per day! Portability

Arete is the Greek Goddess of Excellence in all things and, with this range of dehumidifiers, this is exactly what we have achieved. The attention to detail has been exhaustive as we perfected every interaction between the user and the dehumidifier. The control panel on Arete One has simple and clearly laid out controls. The buttons that you use most often are larger; the buttons that you hardly ever use are small. Large buttons include controls for Smart Humidity Control and Smart Laundry either of which can be set by pressing just one button. This handle feels far more robust than most that I've come across on other dehumidifiers and is really easy to grip. To access the water tank, you just pull the two large handles at the front of the unit. Although a word of warning, the water tank can be heavy when full, so you’ll need a steady hand to walk to the sink as it’s easy to splash the water around. However, you don’t need to fiddle with any lids or covers as I encountered with other dehumidifiers, with the Meaco you just pour the water away via a little outlet at the side of the tank. Overall a really easy experience. And there’s a simple but clever solution for pouring out the water. With Arete there are two spouts: one to the left and one to the right. So you can pour the water away without having to juggle or twist the tank. We have not included a free hose in our dehumidifiers for a few years now because more than 90% of users told us that they do not use them, so they just end up in landfill. Our aim is to reduce plastic waste, so we changed the way we do things.

After I'd waited the six hours from unboxing to allow the refrigerant to settle, I was ready to put the MeacoDry Arete One dehumidifier to the test. As is the case with all dehumidifiers, power requirements and performance will depend on relative humidity and temperature. For example, at 10ºC with 60% relative humidity, the MeacoDry Arete One 10L can extract 1.41-litres of moisture per day, running at 129W. Get up to 30ºC and 80% relative humidity, and the MeacoDry Arete One 10L will extract 10.42-litres of water per day, running at 199W. Typically, given the UK climate, this model will cost around 4p per hour to run.Besides, can I put the dehumidifier in bathroom during a shower (Of coz not under the showerhead)? As my bathroom is just like a sauna room after my girlfriend use it.
