About this deal

Swap this with three non-Command Saurus Warriors when you want to run two 10-model units of Saurus Warriors. Howdy, folks! This is a guide to show you how to get the most out of your Start Collecting: Seraphon box. Games Workshop seems to want these to be a thing and they’re not, really. Cheap, flying cavalry their damage is so-so. The potential for mortal wounds when flying over enemy units is nice. However, Fangs of Sotek lists, where these should ostensibly fit, are not starved for choice and these guys with their laughable 6+ save will get decimated the second they get close to the enemy. Ripperdactyl Riders

One Saurus Astrolith Bearer from the last Saurus Warrior model, with kitbash from your now-massive Seraphon bits collection. Ability: First to Battle – In the first battle round, add 3″ to the Move characteristic of FANGS OF SOTEK SKINK units. Itxi Grubs – At the start of each hero phase, you can heal 1 wound allocated to the bearer. In addition, in your hero phase you can re-roll 1 casting or dispelling roll of the bearer, and in the enemy hero phase you can re-roll 1 unbinding roll for the bearer.I enjoy taking a concept and dialling it up to 11, smashing together as many different kits as it takes to fulfil my vision. My armies may not be to everyone’s tastes, but I sure do love making them. For inspiration, I turned to the Warhammer 40,000 Necrons range. The aesthetics of these two ranges are remarkably similar, so they’re perfect for converting. From there, I worked out how to make all kinds of mechanised walkers and constructs to represent different units in the Seraphon army. Lots of ways to gain Command Points –You have access to tons of relics, traits and warscroll abilities to generate CP. And you’ll need them! Saurus Warriors Spears & Command sprues, which has the heads, spear-wielding arms, banner-wielding arm, two banners toppers, arm holding a drum, arms holding mallets,s. Add to this that you will have spare models forcing you to buy more boxes just to complete the units and you’ll have reduced the efficiency of one single box.

Swap this with three non-Command Saurus Guard from the 10-model unit to run a total of four 5-model units of Saurus Guard. Coincidentally, you can field a Firelance Starhost with just the models you assembled from the Saurus Knights. Some of the only survivors of the World-That-Was aside from the gods themselves, the Seraphon are a race of lizard-like creatures, refugees of the Old World who fled aboard starships, before finding themselves in the realms we know today. Guided by the remnants of a Great Plan left behind by a mysterious race of omnipotent beings known as the Old Ones, the Seraphon seek one thing: The total defeat of Chaos. They will do anything to achieve that end, resulting in a cold, predatory ruthlessness that regularly results in conflict with their own Sigmarite allies as often as it does the forces of Chaos. The Troglodon is the cheapest Behemoth option available to Seraphon, and I would rather have two different looking Behemoths, than two Saurus Heroes riding nearly identical Carnosaurs. I do think there is merit in having both Carnosaur variants in your collection, because there is quite a bit of synergy in their Command Abilities. But, because it's their Command Abilities that have synergy, you would have to run a Fangs of Sotek Battalion, and that's going to bring you into the 2000 point army range: it's a very expensive combo that really only comes into play against Monsters. You'll have to work your best Green Stuff Magic to get them into different poses. Hint: buff the Clawed Forelimbs with the Oldblood's Ancient Warlord Command Ability, and buff the Oldblood with the Scar-Veteran's Saurian Savagery. Seriously, even at 320 points this guy makes up every point you spent on him. He’s the first thing you should add to every list. Slann Starmaster

Like the artefacts, there are separate command trait tables for each of Slann, Saurus, and Skinks. Each one has 3 options. Slann Now that you have an idea of what kind of army you want to run, you need to know what models to buy. Thankfully you have a lot of flexibility here. As stated above, allegiances don’t really affect what units you can use (though they do grant a certain preference). We’re going to look at 3 possible options, with room to expand. Saurus Heavy

Both the Oldblood and the Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur are 240 points, Leaders and Behemoths. The Troglodon instead is a Behemoth for 140 points I was most inspired by your Battle-Standard Bearer (Astrolith), very simple use of materials at hand. I hope I can use your plan and modify it a bit to make my own, always something I wanted to try. Command Trait: Ancient Knowledge – A DRACOTHION’S TAIL SLANN must have this trait. The general knows 1 extra spell from the Lore of Celestial Domination. In addition, you can re-roll 1 casting, or unbinding roll for this general each hero phase.

With the bits provided, for each 4 Saurus Knights you assemble, one model may be assembled as an Alpha Knight, one model may be assembled to carry a Stardrake Icon, and one model may be assembled to carry Wardrums. If the minimum size of a unit of Saurus Knights was 4 models, you could build two 4-model units, each with full command, from a single Start Collecting: Seraphon box. You are not forced to assemble any Saurus Knight as an Alpha Knight, Stardrake Icon-bearer, or Wardrummer. Extremely good guide! I've done something very similar myself recently, but have tried to recycle a few more spare parts in there. I also converted some Blood Bowl Saurus and Skinks , making sure to equip them with more armour and fancy weapons to fit in with the rest of the force.
