I just realized it took me over 2 weeks to read this book. I usually read three books a week. This one just wasn't my jam. (Again with the food!) Nora - Nora's moved into the cottage near to Suzi, she has a devastating past she is desperate to keep secret. And a reason for why she is at that cottage.

a b c d Bruns, Ann (11 August 2000). "Biography: Rosamunde Pilcher". Bookreporter.com . Retrieved 1 September 2012. Now maybe I'll start this review off with the only flaw I found in this book. It was way too long. This book could have been about half it's length if there was proper editing done. A lot of thoughts were repeated more then twice and the inner monologues were lengthy and repetitive. Granted that they added a certain depth to the women and the story, it was unnecessary in my opinion. The Other Wife is a suspenseful, domestic thriller which follows the perspectives of three different women, Suzi, Nora, and Elle. They each have a story to tell, but just how closely are these three women actually connected? I really enjoyed this book. It is not a thriller, nor a love story, not an urban fantasy or a ya coming of age. It is just a greatly written story about the wrong person to love and the possible consequences.Rosamunde Pilcher, OBE ( née Scott; 22 September 1924 – 6 February 2019) [2] was a British novelist, best known for her sweeping novels set in Cornwall. Her books have sold over 60 million copies worldwide. [3] Early in her career she was published under the pen name Jane Fraser. In 2001, she received the Corine Literature Prize's Weltbild Readers' Prize for Winter Solstice.

Four Seasons (dir. Giles Foster, 2008), starring Tom Conti, Senta Berger, Michael York, Franco Nero, Juliet Mills and Frank Finlay I liked that the author had the story told by both women, giving the reader a views of each side of the story, without having a "bad guy". And who is the strange woman crying at William's bedside, covered in his blood - a friend, a mistress, a fantasist or a killer? This is a two parter and this review is based on the first part. I'll watch part two just to see how this plays out. But I think I know. Throughout I found myself wondering which wife has been betrayed the most, and who has the more difficult journey ahead. The glimpses into their respective marriages shed a fascinating light on who Richard was and also suggest why he behaved as he did.

Series should have been cut to one episode If the cliches and plot twists that weren't needed were cut it would be a cleaner plot with a tight 90 minutes of run time. Of course the overdone music is too much also. So much of the acting is either over the top or completely flat. Clean up all the plot/ script/setting goofs of which there are many would have helped also. Of course the question remains on how so many people are clueless over so many thing and make so many bad decisions. It begins with a call from the hospital. Joe's father, the eminent retired surgeon William O'Loughlin has been admitted to intensive care with catastrophic head injuries. Rushing to William's bedside where he lies on life support, Joe discovers a distraught woman in her forties holding his father's hand. "I'm his other wife," she tells the stunned Joe, who thought his father was safely in the country with Mary, his tweedy wife of 60 years. In 1949, Pilcher's first book, a romance novel, was published by Mills and Boon, under the pseudonym Jane Fraser. She published a further ten novels under that name. In 1955, she also began writing under her real name with Secret to Tell. By 1965 she had dropped the pseudonym and was signing her own name to all of her novels. [5] The Other Wife is full of lies, deceit, betrayal and lots and lots of secrets. Most, if not all, of the characters in this book, I disliked in the best way possible. I believe that Ms. McGowan’s goal was for the reader to find most of the characters abhorrent, and in my opinion, she achieved this goal.
