About this deal
Badmouthing mineral oil is a favorite sport of many, it is a cheap material and being connected to petrolatum makes it fairly easy to demonize.
Lip Sleeping Mask - Glam 5 Dupes For The Iconic Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask - Glam
The mask feels nice on the lips and really keeps your lips moisturised all night. It spreads out nicely and it’s just really comfortable to wear. Sometimes I apply it in the morning as well, when I have a lot of time for it to pull into the skin. Does it make my lips extremely soft? Some nights it does. Other nights it does the same thing as other lipbalms to me and it makes my lips even flakier than they already were. So I don’t know. I still like to use this lip mask, but I’m a bit 50/50 on the results. Not penetrating the skin but mostly just sitting on top of it and not containing biologically active components, like nice fatty acids and vitamins meanthat mineral oil does not "nourish" the skin in the way plant oils do. Mineral oil doesnot give the skin any extra goodness, it is simply a non-irritating moisturizer working mainly by occlusivity.

Mekas M, et al. An Evaluation of Efficacy and Tolerability of Novel Enzyme Exfoliation Versus Glycolic Acid in Photodamage Treatment. Journal of Drugs in Dermatology. 2015 Nov;14(11):1306-19. I always love trying out new skincare products. Which is why I was extremely excited when YesStyle offered to send me some products. One of the products was something I had never tried before: an overnight lip mask. I do use lipbalm regularly, like most people, but I’ve never used an actual lip mask. So today, I’m trying out the CARE:NEL Berry Lip Night Mask and reviewing it for you. Let’s get into it! CARE:NEL Berry Lip Night Mask What makes Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask so special is its formula. It's irresistibly soft and satiny while still being ultra-hydrating and nourishing for lips. Plus, it comes in a variety of covetable flavors, from Gummy Bear and Vanilla to Mango and Pink Lemonade. The brand is also known for launching limited-edition holiday varieties, such as Peppermint and Gingersnap.

The main concernwith nanoparticles is that they are so tiny that they are absorbedinto the skin more than we want them (ideally sunscreen should remain on the surface of the skin). Once absorbed they might form unwanted complexes with proteins and they might promote the formation of evil free radicals. But do not panic, these are concerns under investigation. A 2009 review article about the safety of nanoparticles summarizes this, "to date, in-vivo and in-vitro studies have not demonstrated percutaneous penetration of nanosized particles in titanium dioxide and zinc oxide sunscreens". The English translation is, so far it looks like sunscreenswith nanoparticlesdo stay on the surface of the skin where they should be. Trust us, if something is used for more than 100 years in cosmeticproducts, it hasadvantages. Chemically speaking, cosmetic grade mineral oil is a complex mixture ofhighly refined saturated hydrocarbons with C15-50 chain length. It is not merely a "by-product" but rather a specifically isolated part of petroleum that is very pure and inert. Anyway, it doesn't matter if it reflects or absorbs, Titanium Dioxide is a pretty awesome sunscreen agent for two main reasons: it gives a nice broad spectrum coverage and it's highly stable. Its protection is very good between 290 - 350 nm (UVB and UVA II range), and less goodat 350-400 nm (UVA I) range. Regular sized Titanium Dioxide also has a great safetyprofile, it's non-irritating and is pretty much free from any health concerns (like estrogenic effect worries with some chemical filters).
