About this deal

The Q5s is the flagship portable DAC/Amp from FiiO and an upgrade of the Q5. As a DAC/amp, its primary function is to bypass the built-in digital-to-analog converter of your phone, laptop, or other device and amplify the signal. Its top-notch specs make it a stellar desktop DAC/amp, while its portability makes it the perfect travel companion. The sound is neutral but warm, with an above-average soundstage. The notes are within the sweet spots, not lean nor fat, but presented with a fuller body. The superb EQ/ATE pre-settings fit any situation, but you can use the two gain settings to have a change. EDIT : after a little more listenings and A/Bing I would dare to say : while the bluetooth performance is good and better or slightly better then other dongles I have ( Qudelix 5k i.e. ) , and very customizable , the performance in wired mode as USB/DAC is definitely on another league .

Q5s_FAQ - FiiO Q5s_FAQ - FiiO

I experienced no dropouts on Bluetooth, and I also experienced something pleasant, but FiiO products are the ones that are best integrated with ROON and TIDAL, so if you’re looking at doing a lot of streaming, don’t worry and go with FiiO, they always go big with software. The BTR5’s output is powerful and with detailed resolution thanks to its single-ended 3.5mm and balanced 2.5mm outputs. Chord Mojo is a bit more basic , it does not offer bluetooth or wireless : unless upgraded ; it offers less or far less input-ouput options ; it weights a little less ; in regards to form factor and usability I would leave it to personal appeal , they are quite a different things one from the other and apart of a very good level performance or surprising so for being portables, they do not share so many similarities. So today, we are gonna review the FiiO Q5S, the upscale version of the FiiO Q5. The fall-2019 range I did a review a few months ago and long story short, really liked the device which felt like a swiss army knife, for audio purposes. Here is an excerpt:

Also, the S-Balanced circuitry proves a worthy upgrade as it balances sound output better to eliminate cross talk and distortions, for a clean and clear presentation. Other included features are IEM match mode, top-notch Bit rate and sample rate support, DSD and MQA decoding, 3D sound, XBass, and multiple output power and filter settings. If you want a well-made (in America!) DAC with custom components designed to make your music sound as good as possible, it’s hard to argue with Schiit’s Bifrost 2.if we are basing solely on sound quality for giving the award , well.. at least I would be very hard pressed to say the Chord Mojo is clearly better The sound details organization is amazing, very cohesive, and smooth for daylong listening without any fatigue.
