About this deal

The Levoit Tower Fan quite simply got us through this summer's first heatwave. It is super powerful with four modes and five fan speeds (it can reach up to 25 feet per seconds), and we found that it actually did make the room overall feel much cooler rather than just blowing lukewarm air around. This was especially true when we had the fan on the 90 degree oscillation mode, since it provided a wider coverage and circulated fresh air to every corner in the room. Honeywell is one of the big players in the world of tower fans, and the HO-5500RE is a good example of why, with a decent design and a powerful blast of air at the top end. This Honeywell tower fan truly is great value money if you are on a budget, so to help make your final decision about whether or not you should buy it we have summarised its pros and cons below to make things clearer. Pros Of The Honeywell Tower Fan But does it live up to its name? Yes, it actually does. The most impressive thing about it is that the difference between the top and bottom fan speeds isn’t actually that great in terms of volume to the naked ear. Indeed, bringing out the sound level metre reveals a volume of 72.9db at max speed when recorded immediately in front of the fan, dropping to 47db two metres away. That’s both slightly better and worse than the Dyson Pure Cool (70db / 51.9db) in the same metrics, but given the Honeywell is quieter at 2m and costs a fraction of the price, it’s a great result. The fan itself performed decently, but it was far from the most powerful fan we tested. Still, it will do a good job of circulating air in a small to medium-sized room. Holmes has good support options if you have problems or questions and the three-year warranty is one of the best we saw.

Decided that a tower fan is for you? Well, now your choice comes down to size and features. Generally speaking, the larger and taller the fan, the higher the airflow and the bigger the room it can cool, with the added bonus that you might not have to push it so hard to have the same effect. This means you can run the fan at a slower speed with – usually – less noise. That’s handy, as noise is the second-biggest factor. A noisy tower fan can be distracting in the daytime, but a real issue if it stops you dropping off to sleep at night. You can never bank on getting hot weather in the UK but, when it does come, it can come with a thump. When the mercury rises and the air stays still, it’s almost impossible to escape the humidity and heat, yet – for most of us – air conditioning is overkill. Get hold of a fan, however, and you can get a breeze going inside your home and make the temperature a bit more bearable. Put one in the lounge and you can properly chill out; get one in the bedroom and you might just get some sleep. Dyson TP07 Purifier Cool Purifying Fan: A close competitor to the LG PuriCare AeroTower Air Purifying Fan, this Dyson model also purifies the air that it circulates. It has a bladeless design with a modern aesthetic, and compared to the LG model, it has a smaller footprint. Unfortunately, I found the airflow to be slightly too diffuse; you couldn’t really feel the air movement at a distance of more than 6 feet away.We tested the Seville Classics UltraSlimline at home and appreciated its space-saving design and helpful features. This tower fan has four settings, including an energy-saving Eco setting. We found that the lowest setting provided a gentle breeze of air and minimal noise while the higher setting created a powerful airflow that cooled even our hottest room, while not being too noisy. It circulated the ambient air and pushed cold air from ourair conditioner around the space thanks to the 75-degree oscillation. And for added convenience, you can customize all these settings on the fan or by using the included remote control. So without further ado, let's get into it! Main Features Of The Honeywell QuietSet Whole Room Tower Fan

Dimensions: 44.1 x 10.4 x 10.4 inches | Settings: 10 speeds, plus Diffusion, Direct and Wide settings | Timer: 1 to 12 hours | Remote: Yes | Oscillation: Yes; 45, 60, 90 and 140 degrees | Noise range: 35.3 to 50.8 decibels You can buy a tower fan from most home and garden retailers, supermarkets and DIY stores. But, you better get in early. These handy pieces of tech are hard to come by when the heatwave hits, so it's good to buy yours ahead of time. Try the following retailers: Bigger pedestal fans might offer a bit more power, but they also bring with them noise and unwieldy movement, which can become annoying if you're using them on a regular basis. This Honeywell Quietset whole room model, in particular, is a very affordable option for cooling down you down during the summer and has great adjustability as well as speed options. If you are looking for a table top or personal tower fan, we recommend the Honeywell 13 Inch Quietset Mini Tower Fan, a smaller, even slimmer version of the Honeywell Quiet Set Tower Fan that we tested. This fan offers many of the same features as the taller, 40-inch version including quiet operation, a sleep timer (2-, 4-, 8-hour settings) multiple speeds, and easy-to-use controls. We love that this version also oscillates, circulating air around the room without taking up too much space. We use a fan upstairs to supplement our AC. I use to cool the bedroom/office where I've been working since Covid hit and to cool my side of the bed. Our old fan was a pedestal mount with a 20" blade and at its lowest speed produced too much air to work comfortably. Running it all night would dry out my sinuses. And it was noticeably loud, especially at night. You can also use the brush attachment from a vacuum cleaner and wipe down the exterior of your tower fan with a damp cloth. Do tower fans have blades?
