Jura coffee makers are devices designed by Jura Elektroapparate AG, a Swiss developer and distributor of home appliances. They don’t manufacture the appliances however, in fact since the 1990’s they have outsourced production to other companies. Their espresso machines are manufactured by Eugster/Frismag, another Swiss company. Is your coffee not hot enough? A coffee temperature that is too low may be due to the following possible causes: Latte Production - The older X7 model does not have a as sophisticated frothing head design as the new X9 which means while it can make lattes it cant make layered lattes. This is because the X7s frothing device can only froth the milk automatically where as the X9 can switch between frothing and just steaming the milk allowing it to make the drink properly. This does not effect the coffe output and both machines can be used manually to achieve every frothing/steam result. Note: Do not switch your IMPRESSA J5 off to start the descaling programme. The descaling programme can only be performed when the machine is switched on. The display shows either COFFEE READY/ DECALCIFY or DECALCIFY NOW. Open the cover of the programming keys and press the Decalcify key. Please follow the instructions in the display.

The fineness of grind has not been set to your taste. The grinder can be adjusted with the adjustment rings on the bean containers. If no coffee is dispensed, the grinder is likely grinding the coffee beans too finely, which can cause a ‘System Fill’ message to appear on the machine’s display. If this is the case, the used grounds will be soaked and look like mud. Apart from that, an updated display with an LCD or TFT (Thin Film Transistor) screen and maybe user profiles would be nice, but both of these things would add significantly to the cost of the machine.

Tip: Start the descaling program again with 0.7 litres of water. During the program, the water tank is completely emptied. Please do not refill with water until you are prompted to do so in the display.
