The Monkey Feet are easy to adjust and should fit over your shoes without too much trouble. The clip for dumbbells also shouldn’t cause any trouble, since it fits most handles. Despite the way our species evolved away from climbing trees to walking on flat ground, some people are still walking around with monkey-like feet. In fact, you may be surprised to learn that about eight percent of the population, or 1 in 13 humans, may have a midtarsal break in their foot characteristic of non-human primates. These are also referred to as prehensile feet. What is a Midtarsal Break?

Being able to save space and money is of high-priority for many home gym owners. Enter MonkeyFeet. MonkeyFeet, developed by Animalhouse Fitness, is a patented, ratchet-based shoe attachment designed to securely hold a standard dumbbell weighing up to 160 pounds. This unique design is the only method to-date that allows athletes to lift dumbbells with their feet just as they would with their hands. In doing so, it opens the door to dozens of leg and core training movements usually reserved for machines. The anti-rotational stimulus of the core is what makes this a favorite exercise of my old vertical jump/speed coach. Human feet are both rigid and pliable depending on the need. The human foot is a spring arch that should be able to drop and lift with every step. Human legs angle in from the hip to the knee, allowing our feet to fall directly under the pelvis and our pelvic muscles are much stronger, as well, allowing for a stable upright environment.Saves space. The convenience of the Monkey Feet is great. It’s a small, lightweight item, and when you’re done with it just move it out of the way.

Now we’re starting to get into the slightly more esoteric domain of sports performance with some advanced movements you won’t often see.

Animal House Fitness – Monkey Feet: Pros & Cons

Takes some getting used to. The Monkey Feet feel pretty awkward at first. You should only put it on when you’re in position for its dedicated exercise(s). You don’t want to walk around with this thing on! It’s also not exactly comfortable… not that it’s supposed to be. You can also make these harder by turning them into more of an L-sit. Instead of bending at the knees, try to keep your legs out straight and raise your toes up towards the roof. 9. Modified Eagle Goes beyond leg workouts. Like I mention above, the Monkey Feet are great for abdominal work, too. It doesn’t take too much thinking to figure out all the ways to take advantage of this funky little product. Lashing Straps come in different lengths - all of which will be far too long for this application. You will have to trim them. You want them at least to be long enough to fit OVER the ends of your dumbbells. If you have Pro Style Dumbbells (with 10 LBS Plates on the ends) - you will obviously need them to be longer than if you have more compact dumbbells (e.g., Hex dumbbells). In the video - I use straps that were probably a little too long. I could have cut off more. Just use your best judgment. When cutting, use a sharp pair of scissors, and then take a lighter and lightly singe the the end where you cut. This will prevent the strap from fraying. While it is possible to do tibialis raises with MonkeyFeet, it really isn’t a very good way to do this exercise – the product simply wasn’t designed for this use.

MonkeyFeet were invented by US based company Animalhouse Fitness and the product started selling towards the end of 2020. The dumbbell handle must be at least 127mm in length for the MF to clamp onto it – unless you’re using the tiniest dumbbells in the world, I don’t think you’ll ever have any issues with this. Despite being made of plastic and weighing just over one pound, the AnimalHouse MonkeyFeet can hold up to a 160-pound dumbbell. It fits shoe sizes up to a men’s 14, and the 14.488-inch ratchet strap and 4.724-inch mounting hole strap enable you to get a customized fit. Jake doing Leg Extensions with the Animalhouse MonkeyFeetEither way you like it, this is an amazing way to hit the lower abdominals as well as the hip flexors at the same time. Sold as singles but suitable for both feet, MonkeyFeet may feel a bit wonky at first and do take some getting used to. That said, they are incredibly secure and made with convenience in mind. Simply fold, clamp, and ratchet to secure the dumbbell and start moving. Specs Weight Cool side note… the biggest biomechanical difference between elite sprinters and regular human beings is their hip extensor muscles. If you’ve never tried fire hydrants, they may not look like much, but trust me this is a tough exercise. This would add increased tension at the top of the raise which would mean you could get away with doing lower weights. 5. Leg Extension

One of the easiest ways to do hamstring curls at home is with MonkeyFeet. You can do these standing or lying on your stomach. Anyone training through an injurywho can’t use loaded barbells for lower body exercises can keep up with their lower body training with AnimalHouse MonkeyFeet. If you wanted to do really heavy hanging knee raises, there’s actually no better way than to strap weights to your feet! Each AnimalHouse MonkeyFeet attachment can hold up to a 160-pound dumbbell, so anyone from beginnersto advanced lifters can use them. Strap Length Conventional wisdom has always claimed that the human mid-foot is rigid, which allows for more efficient walking while chimpanzees and other apes have flexible feet better suited to grasping branches as they move through the trees.
