first shogun, Tokugawa Ieyasu, in 1603. Ieyasu withdrew Japan from international trade and relations and created A compelling and original book....This outstanding first book...has launched a medieval historian of tremendous promise." My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I'm twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again. Jin Se Completed: (Wattpad TL: Ch 1 onwards) (Chrysanthemum Garden TL: Ch 8 - end) | 2011 | Shi Wuduan, Bai Li | xianxia Poppy is a gorgeous, blue-blooded lawyer from the East Coast who is trying to outrun things in her own past, including a controlling ex-boyfriend and her overbearing parents. Despite her intelligence and grade A career, Poppy is unsatisfied because, much like Kevin Bacon’s character in Footloose, all she wants to do is dance. But since her parents look down on a life as a professional dancer, Poppy says ‘screw them’ and moves to Kansas City, enrolls in a college dance program, and . . . becomes a stripper at an elite private gentleman’s club. As one does.

Where’s literally anything about the female character, Poppy Danforth?! (Other than the fact she gets railed on top of an altar in Tyler’s church, obvi.) It’s such a weird quirk that really only seems to affect the romance genre, and it’s even worse when a book is told from duel POVs, so the “plot summary” is two vague, mysterious chunks of thought. So, because of that, here I am to answer a few key questions about this book that I hope my parents never find out that I actually read. The blurb above actually isn’t as terrible as most of them are, since it does get across some important information: Tyler Bell is a priest in a small town outside of Kansas City. He’s young and handsome, and unexpectedly joined the priesthood following a devastating family tragedy. Now that he has his robes, he’s been tasked with reviving this church’s membership and reputation following a sexual abuse scandal with the previous priest that affected Tyler’s family, something that he still hasn’t come to terms with. Although it seems his decision to become a priest was borne out of coping with loss, he genuinely loves what he does and hasn’t questioned his new career path. Well, until Poppy Danforth walks through the door. The John Milton series was his first noteworthy series after trying his hand on a few stand alone novels. Mark has said in his interviews that before becoming a well established author he used to work as a lawyer, serving his clients in the City of London and Soho, West End of London. Most of his clients included money launderers initially, but after a few years he began serving the celebrities who used to sue newspapers for libel.Mark likes to write his novels, particularly in the suspense, thriller and mystery genres; and says that he was greatly inspired by the successful works of authors such as Bret Easton Ellis, Robert Ludlum, James Elroy and Stephen King. His famous novels have been published in multiple languages all over the world, over the years. The Soho Noir series written by him is set between the years 1940 and 1970 and takes place in the West End of London.

Liu Yao (Blob TL: 1-33) (Pizzilations TL: 34-onwards) (Rustycol TL: 35-onwards) | 2014 | Yan Zhengming, Cheng Qian | xianxia Mark Dawson is one of the most famous English authors who is very well known for writing thriller novels. He is particularly famous for and currently writing three novels series’ John Milton, Beatrix Rose and Soho Noir. After being born in Lowestoft, Suffolk, England, he was raised in Manchester and Chicago, Illinois.

This book made me laugh out loud multiple times due to the sheer ridiculousness of its story, its mile-wide plot holes, and dialogue that’s meant to come across as bold and sexy but reads more like someone who’s never spoken to another human being before. Poppy’s reasoning for becoming a sex worker is underdeveloped at best, as is her reasoning for the half-baked (and inevitable) third act break-up. Both of which are probably made worse by the fact that the book is entirely told from Tyler’s perspective, so we have no insight into Poppy’s seemingly nonsensical decision making. It’s a lot. But also I think we can all admit to ourselves that if you buy this book, you aren’t necessarily coming for a Pulitzer Prize-winning plot.
