Featurette: "Legends of the Dark Knight: The History of Batman" (SD, 18 minutes) - Perhaps my favorite featurette here, this is a very informative retrospective on seven decades of Batman. Among them is likely to be the deleted scene featuring a famous Batman villain that has already been released. I suspect minor noise reduction has been applied to the transfer, but I didn't encounter the waxy faces or distorted backgrounds that signal an overzealous application. Trailers and an audio commentary would have elevated these extras to the next level (Reeves does comment on the deleted scenes), but make no mistake—this is very good special feature content. There are colors in the film, don’t get me wrong, but they’re mainly relegated to the backgrounds like neon signs and whatnot.

Though in fairness, Nolan’s films were about grounding Batman in the real world, while Reeves works more to capture the darkness of society’s underbelly. Simply put, this is a gorgeous and beautifully-textured presentation, delivered in reference-quality 4K. The disc also has no features on it, so the entire film is on one disc giving it “room to breathe” so to speak.surround track isn't going to blow anyone away simply because it has to contend with the inherent limitations of Batman's twenty year old sound design. Warner Bros brings an impressive Blu-ray release to the market with a terrific video transfer, a demo-worthy Atmos track, and some worthwhile bonus features. his attraction to the project, what he brought to the table, how he selected his cast, how he influenced the design of Gotham City, and the film's eventual reception.
