Despite the challenge of volcanic mountains, large rice farms and wind direction changes, the Saga International Balloon Festival is the largest hot air ballooning event in Asia, drawing in a staggering 800,000 spectators and many international balloonists. The harbourside provides beautiful views of Bristol even without mass ascents, with balloons making them even more special.

Now the largest balloon festival in the world, the Balloon Fiesta welcomes hundreds of thousands of guests during the first nine days of October – when the climate is ideal for piloting these vessels – to watch around 600 balloons fill the Albuquerque sky. Weather and pilot permitting, balloons will only be onsite for morning launches from 5:45-6:15am (balloons may be visible in the sky longer depending on wind speed), tether rides (6:30-7:30am or as long as fuel lasts and weather permits)and Night Glow (sunset). Chris Allcock, chairman of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta Organising Committee said: "Everyone is very excited and we want it to happen and we want it to happen now. Thisis the largest and oldest balloon rally in the state, that takes place every Memorial Day weekend.
The nature reserve, which is in St George, is the perfect place for balloon spotting due to its high position - so pack a picnic and look up! The spot looks out towards Bristol as well as North Somerset, meaning you're pretty much guaranteed to see the mass ascents. Celebrated in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, a city within the province of Quebec, the festival features mass ascensions, rides, games and music performances with popular headliners such as Jason Derulo. The first mass ascent, which usually takes place on Friday morning, is now set to take place Thursday evening at 6pm, and will be followed by the legendary Nightglow, which sees multiple balloons light up to a one-off soundtrack.Here you can watch over 60 creatively designed balloons from around the country, some as high asseven stories tall.
Bristol Balloon Collectors will bring the huge Thomas The Tank Engine balloon to tether in the arena this year.But the biggest draw to this festival is the live concert lineupwhere legendary bandslike Barenaked Ladies, the Jonas Brothers and KC and the Sunshine Band have played in previous years.
This renowned fall festival, considered one of the top things to do in New Mexico, even boasts the title of "the world's most photographed event," with an estimated 25 million photographs captured. There’s a bandstand featuring live music every day, and the Brizzle Kicks area for children’s entertainment – with daily foam parties. As the official charity partner the Trust will have a presence on site every day, with events planned including a tombola, raffle and children’s activities.
